The Milanese autumn has many concerts and events in store that will keep us company until November 2019, with proposals that range from the most diverse genres and that will be able to satisfy everyone's taste. All you have to do is dive into the new musical season and discover a world of events not to be missed. In Milano the music could not be more alive.

HIGHLIGHTS

The highly anticipated event of 21 September in Linate airport, where Jovanotti will give life to an unforgettable party for the last leg of his Jova Beach Tour 2019. The Milanese airport, currently closed for restyling, is the perfect location to host this show incredible that from noon to midnight it will make everyone jump and dance with a crazy show of music, lights and colors.

 

On the 27th of September at Fondazione Prada awaits you the last appointment of the cycle I want to like you but I find it difficult, which will see as protagonists the two British DJs Sam Shepherd (known as Floating Points) and Ben UFO, the French musician Colleen, and the British musician and producer Craig Richards. A surprising mix of different genres and sound styles.

 

The MITO SettembreMusica festival is definitely a regular event, which in its extemsive programme includes performances by great conductors such as Myung-Whun Chung, Yuri Temirkanov and Zubin Mehta, and soloists of the caliber of Martha Argerich, as well as the participation of the most important musical formations such as the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Filarmonica della Scala and the Milan Orchestra Verdi.

 

At the Assago Forum the music has an international flavor, thanks to the concerts of Little Mix (18 September), Michael Bublè (23 and 24 September), Sting (29 October), Enrique Iglesias (2 November), and The Chemical Brothers (16 November), which will drive thousands of fans crazy with their incredible performances.

 

In November, the spotlight will be on Music Week and JAZZMI, which will present schedules rich in events throughout Milano. Milano Music Week, scheduled from 18 to 24 November, will focus once again on the most diverse frequencies of music, ranging from concerts, DJ sets, showcases and meetings, training workshops, exhibitions and special events. JAZZMI, from 1 to 10 November, will propose jazz in all its nuances between more popular sounds and others yet to be discovered.

POP, ROCK AND RAP

Big star-spangled guests will make the Fabrique public dance. In September there will be the devil of rap Machine Gun Kelly (8 September) and the rock band Wilco (19 September), while in October we will have the rapper and producer Jon Bellion (1 October) and the new revelation of the American pop Julia Michaels (2 October). Also the Teatro Dal Verme will host international artists, this time however with a European touch: on November 4th will be the turn of Jethro Tull, legendary British band that will bring his rock of many facets to the stage.

EXPLORATION OF GENRES

At BASE, every Friday and Saturday until September 20th, there will be the Festa in Stabilimento, with theme evenings that deepen a specific musical genre, passing from afrobeat to disco, from punk to indie and more.

 

From September 3rd to 19th there will be the aforementioned MITO SettembreMusica, with many concerts exploring different genres and themes in a journey through history and music, discovering sounds that represent distant and close at the same time traditions and geographies.

 

Until the end of September, Mare Culturale Urbano will offer live music with artists and performances that will enliven the courtyard of Cascina Torrette.

MUSICALS AND SHOWS WITH LIVE MUSIC

Great shows and enthralling musicals will certainly not be missing in the autumn of Milano. At the Teatro degli Arcimboldi let yourself be captivated by the charm and intensity of Notre Dame de Paris, which from October 17th to November 10th will accompany you in a timeless story thanks to an impressive and evocative show. And the emotions at the Arcimboldi do not end there. On 5 and 6 October two shows dedicated to the world of video games will be on stage: the first will be Kingdom Hearts Orchestra - World of Tres taken from the video games Kingdom Hearts, with the video projection on a giant screen and the live orchestra formed by over 100 musicians, while the next day will be the turn of Assassin's Creed Symphony, also here with live orchestra and projections taken from the original video game. Furthermore, from November 22nd, you will be able to watch the musical Pinocchio Reloaded - Favola di un burattino senza fili, with music by Edoardo Bennato and based on the concept-album by the 1977 songwriter entitled Burattino senza fili. The work is a biting reinterpretation of Collodi's famous story that narrates the relationship between the human and personal journey of each of us through the constraints of society.

 

A full-musical calendar the one by the Teatro della Luna. From October 3rd to 6th there will be HAIR - The Tribal Love-Rock Musical, a tribute to the "hippie" thought and its surprising topicality, while from October 24th to November 17th The Full Monty will be staged with Paolo Conticini, Luca Ward and many others protagonists that between fun and joy will tell a beautiful story of social redemption. Starting from November 21st there will also be School Of Rock, based on the famous film of the same name that will see Lillo as a reckless rock guitarist who improvises as a teacher in a prestigious institute to make ends meet.

 

Great show on November 6th at the Assago Forum with The World of Hans Zimmer - A Symphonic Celebration. The music written by Hans Zimmer for successful films like The Gladiator and Pirates of the Caribbean will be played live by a large symphony orchestra, with visual and sound effects that will leave you breathless.

 

Last but not least, the Teatro Dal Verme will host two concerts dedicated to two bands that have made music history. On November 15, fasten your seatbelts for a journey into the world of Genesis with The Musical Box A Genesis Extravaganza - Volume 2. The musicians of the Canadian band The Musical Box bring the Genesis songs from the 1970-1978 period to the stage, with very high musical instruments worthy of a museum. On November 26 and 27, Pink Floyd Legend will once again perform the complete Pink Floyd Atom Heart Mother album released in 1970 with the show Pink Floyd Legend - Atom Heart Mother, and will perform some of the biggest hits of the group British. An incredible live work with surprising scenographic effects and vintage videos projected on a circular screen of 5 meters, for a unique and complete sensory experience.

JAZZ, BLUES AND SWING

To hold high the banner of genres with the most intense and engaging colours of music, there will be great guests and exceptional artists. Until the end of October, the programming of Area M - Città Studi Sound will propose events dedicated to jazz and 20th-century music, with famous international artists such as Paolo Fresu, Fabrizio Bosso, Chucho Valdés, the Inside Quartet, David Friedman and Tony Miceli, Andrea Dulbecco and Giovanni Falzone.

 

From September to November, true fans can enjoy the Blue Note events, as always synonymous with guarantee in the proposal of concerts and evenings in the sign of jazz and blues. They will alternate on the stage of the local historian Joyce Elaine Yuille & The Hammond Groovers (28 September), Matt Bianco (3-4-5 October), Jazzmeia Horn (23-24 October), The Yellowjackets (12 November), and Donny McCaslin ( November 14th).

 

Certainly, there can be no lack of names in the JAZZMI festival, scheduled from 1 to 10 November. On the evening of November 1st, Herbie Hancock will perform at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory, while on November 3rd Stefano Bollani e Chucho Valdés will be at the Teatro Dal Verme for an evening that will bring together the different musical styles of two of the greatest masters of the contemporary jazz scene . Also at the Blue Note we will see The Wooten Brothers (1-2 November), Judith Hill (3 November), Spyro Gyra (5-6 November), and Hiromi (7 November), while Fabrizio Bosso e Giovanni Guidi will play in the Triennale (7 November ) and Melanie De Biasio (November 9th).

CLASSIC MUSIC

For lovers of classical music, the works proposed by the Teatro alla Scala are a sine qua non, with a new musical season that offers great prestige firsts. In September there will be the premieres of Rigoletto (2 September) and of L'elisir d'amore (10 September). In October we will have the premiere of Quartett (5 October) and Giulio Cesare (18 October), while in November there will be the premiere of Die ägyptische Helena (6 November). Also at the Teatro alla Scala, on September 3rd there will be the inaugural concert of MITO SettembreMusica with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, on September 15 there will be a concert by the Giuseppe Verdi Symphony Orchestra of Milan, and on November 11 there will be a concert by the 'Rai National Symphony Orchestra as part of the 28th Milano Musica Festival. Then there will of course be concerts by the La Scala Philharmonic, with a special evening on October 27th to remember Luciana Pestalozza and Claudio Abbado, again for the Festival Milano Musica.

 

Starting from October 17th, at the Teatro Dal Verme there will be concerts of the 75th Symphonic Season of the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali, with many events dedicated to classical and symphonic music that will celebrate important anniversaries related to great performers and authors, one of all Beethoven.
