Antonello da Messina

Inside his art

From
To
Palazzo Reale
Piazza del Duomo 12

The exhibition at Palazzo Reale in Milano from February 21st to June 2nd 2019 is born with the intent to investigate the art of Antonello da Messina, an exalted and unique artist, considered the greatest portraitist of the fifteenth century, who left an indelible mark in the history of Italian painting.

There are only 35 of our works by Antonello: 20 of them will be on exhibit, giving everyone the opportunity to fall in love with this great artist.
For example, the St. Jerome in his study, the Christ blessing, the famous Portrait of a Man, the Madonna and Child from the National Gallery in Washington and the famous Ecce Homo (Christ at the Column) will be on display.

The notebooks of Giovan Battista Cavalcaselle – the first critic who compiled Antonello’s catalogue – will be displayed along with the artist’s works.

An exhibition in collaboration with Regione Sicilia, Comune di Milano with the production of Palazzo Reale and MondoMostre Skira.
