Parking
Cars are not allowed to transit in Piazza Duomo. It is possible to park in an underground car park in piazza Diaz or on the blue lines in the adjacent streets; in via Pecorari, in piazza Diaz, in largo Idefonso Schuster and in piazza Fontana there are some parking spaces reserved for disabled parking permit holders.

Information for visitors
The entrances to the cathedral, to the Early Christian Baptistery and to the Terraces are subject to charges. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office of the Museo del Duomo in Piazza del Duomo 12, the Fast-Track ticket office in Piazza del Duomo outside the Cathedral in front of the Palazzo Reale (counter height: 123 cm) or online (https: //www.duomomilano.it/it/buy-tickets/) 
Admission is free for people with disabilities and their companion; it is however necessary to get the free ticket at the ticket office.
People with disabilities can use the audio guides with Braille keyboard for free.
A manual wheelchair is available on request at the Duomo Infopoint (Piazza Duomo 14 / A) by leaving an identity document.
The Ufficio Servizi Educativi (Educational Services Office) of the Municipality of Milan organizes guided tours for deaf people with a LIS interpreter and with an art historian.
Tactile guided tours are organized by specialized operators for blind and partially sighted visitors.

Entrance
The entrance from the church square has 5 steps that can be avoided by 2 side ramps with handrail (20 m long, slope of 8%). The main entrance has a big hinged door (238 cm).

 

Reception
The entrance to the infopoint - ticket office is located in Piazza Duomo 14, next to the Cathedral.
To access it you need to overcome 3 steps (13 cm). In a single exhibition space, in the Sala delle Colonne, there are:

  • the ticket office (counter height: 110 cm)
  • the Duomo Infopoint (counter height 110 cm).
  • the Duomo Shop (counter height 110 cm).

The museum staff is at your disposal for information and tourist reception services.

 

Interior spaces
The interior of the cathedral is divided into five naves. The aisles are wide and easy to visit, while the Cappella Feriale, the Baptistery of Santo Stefano, the Scurolo and the Crypt of San Carlo are not easily reachable due to stairs.

 

Early Christian Baptistery of San Giovanni alle Fonti
At the side of the main entrance, you can access the Early Christian Baptistery of San Giovanni alle Fonti; to reach it you have to go through a turnstile followed by 27 steps.The circular path to visit the Baptistery is poorly lit with uneven flooring, many steps and walkways with a minimum width of 63 cm.
To reach the Early Christian Baptistery, people with motor disabilities can use the lift located in Piazza Duomo at the corner with Via Silvio Pellico which leads to the mezzanine of the M1 underground in the basement. Once out of the lift, turn left and pass the Atm Point and once you reach the entrance with the turnstiles do not enter, but turn right and right again. The entrance to the Baptistery has a video intercom (115 cm above the ground) and to reach it you must overcome 4 inclined ramps (7 m long, 71 cm wide, maximum slope of 12%)

 

The Terraces
People in wheelchairs can visit the Duomo Terraces but they can only reach the first terrace (up to the back-choir area).The passageway to reach the terraces from the elevator is 78 cm wide from the South lift and 68 cm wide from the North lift.

The walkways are narrow and allow only one person to pass at a time.
From the terraces, 81 steps (handrail alternating left and right) lead to the cathedral roof, characterized by 135 spiers and more than 1800 statues. The roof has a sloping cross path (with the exception of the 130 cm equipped with flat walkway) which, after another 19 steps, leads to the Terrazza della Madonnina.

People with disabilities who would like to visit the Early Christian Baptistery and the Terraces can contact the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo (tel. 0272022656 email info@duomomilano.it) or tell directly the ticket office, when issuing the ticket.  

 

Lift
The North lift has the following features:

  • door width: 65 cm; cabin: interior space 111x137 cm.

The South lift (to reach the terraces) has the following features:

  • door width: 77 cm; cabin: interior space 106x130 cm.

The external lift (Via Silvio Pellico) that connects to the mezzanine of the underground has the following features:

  • door width: 88 cm; cabin: interior space: 165x147 cm.

 

Orientation signage
In the Cathedral there are directional arrows with high contrast and large lettering (at least 7 cm).

 

Toilet facilities
The toilet, located in the sacristy, is small and has the following characteristics:

  • dressing room with washbasin (door width: 51 cm)
  • toilet with door (53 cm wide),
  • toilet (clear space in front 62 cm).

The equipped toilet is located in the external structure where the fast - track ticket office is. After a small, inclined ramp (slope of 7%), a hinged door (87 cm wide) and a sloping ramp (190 cm long, slope of 8%) you reach the equipped toilet which has the following characteristics:

  • toilet with door (93 cm wide)
  • wall-mounted washbasin (clear space in front: 130 cm)
  • floor-standing toilet (clear floor area: in front 100 cm, on the right side 23 cm, on the left side 120 cm, vertical handlebar on right side and handrail along the perimeter)
  • high contrast symbols indicating toilet facilities, positioned at eye level, using medium to large size letters.
