Exhibition layout
The Prada Foundation is located in a converted early 20th century distillery. Its intricate architecture is the result of the combination of existing buildings and three new structures. The complex covers an area of 19,000 m2.
The exhibition route begins at the South Gallery (entrance 89 cm wide), the former workshop of the previous industrial complex. There are 5 consecutive steps along the route (h 20 cm), which can be avoided by using the lift platform (door 143 cm wide, internal space 138 x153 cm, pushbutton panel at a height of 100 cm, to be kept pressed down while the platform is in movement). The spacious former storage area is the next stop along the way.
The Cisterna building is reached from the outer courtyard (entrance with double hinged door, each panel 120 cm wide). The building is divided into three rooms and originally housed tanks used in the spirits production process. Today, it hosts temporary installations.
The North Building has a lift platform (door 105 cm wide, internal space 145 x140 cm, pushbutton panel at a height of 112 cm, to be kept pressed down while the platform is in movement).
The next stop is the Podium building, with spacious exhibition areas housed over two floors, connected by a lift.
Access to the Haunted House, which hosts the permanent installations by Robert Gober and Louise Bourgeois, is by four flights of stairs. The lift may only be used by disabled visitors.

Direction signs
Internal direction signs legible by the visually impaired (characters in excess of 7 cm), in colours standing out against those of the background.
Two horizontal and two vertical panels (90 cm from floor levels) with a tactile map showing the layout of the Foundation.
Touch tours for the blind within the courtyard, from the outer entrance to the entrance to the exhibition route.

Bathroom facilities
There are three disabled bathrooms.
The first is on floor -1 (wardrobe), and has the following fittings:

  • anteroom with 91 cm wide hinged door

  • suspended toilet bowl (space in front 200 cm, to the right 31 cm, to the left 108 cm, vertical handle and handrail to the left, flush to the right, height 67 cm).
