Parking
The Museum is located a short walk from the Duomo in Ztl (limited traffic areas). It is possible to park on Piazza Fontana or in Piazza Diaz (both have one parking space reserved for people with permits for citizens with disabilities) and on Via Pecorari on the blue lines.

Information for visitors
It is possible to book guided tours and workshops.
People with visual impairment can book tactile visits; deaf people can book visits with the support of LIS interpreters.
Wheelchairs are available at the entrance.
Priority access is reserved to pregnant women and/or with kids. Parking area for baby-strollers and baby carriers are avaliable at the desk.

 

Entrance
The main entrances, located in Via Marconi and in the square in front of Palazzo Reale, have no steps and there is a sliding door (170 cm).

 

Reception
At level 0 (ground floor) there are:

  • the ticket office (counter height 110 cm)
  • the cloakroom (counter height 110 cm),
  • the bookshop.

 

Exhibition itinerary
The museum is hosted in the Palazzo dell'Arengario. It develops on 5 levels, linked by accessible lifts; alternatively it is possible to use a circular ramp with a gradient not suitable for unaccompanied wheelchair users.
The Arengario and the second floor of Palazzo Reale are directly linked by a walkway suspended.
On level -1 there are the teaching workshops and a conference hall.
At level 0 there are rooms dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
Levels 1, 2 and 3 house the artistic works, including a plaster copy of a sculpture by Boccioni for tactile reading. At level 1 there is the famous painting Il Quarto Stato (the fourth state) by Pelizza da Volpedo. There is seating in the exhibition halls.
On level 3 there is a mezzanine floor with a display of various works by Fontana: it can be reached by a stair lift, ask museum personnel for assistance.

 

Lifts
The museum is equipped with three lifts and a goods lift.
The first lift links all the floors from -1 to 2 and it has these features:

  • width automatic door 90 cm, cabin 127x138 cm,
  • raised control panel and in Braille at maximum height of 135 cm,
  • acoustic and visual signal for arrival at the floor.

The second and third lifts link all the levels from -1 to 3 and they have these features:

  • width automatic door 90 cm, cabin 142x150 cm,
  • raised control panel and in Braille at maximum height of 130 cm,
  • acoustic and visual signal for arrival at the floor.

The goods lift links all levels and it has these features:

  • width automatic door 180 cm, cabin 200x120 cm,
  • raised control panel and in Braille at maximum height of 130 cm,
  • acoustic and visual signal for arrival at the floor.

 

Restrooms
On level -1 there is a restroom equipped for people with disabilities and these are the features:

  • width door 90 cm,
  • space for manoeuvre 150x150 cm,
  • WC with grab bars on both sides.

The restroom on level 2 has:

  • width door 85 cm,
  • space for manoeuvre 120x100 cm,
  • height WC 55 cm with grab bar on the right-hand side.

A bathroom at level -1 is equipped with changing table.
