How to get there by public transport

Parking
It is situated in a pedestrian area. There is a parking space reserved for disabled pass holders in front of via Broletto 14 (200 m away).

Information for visitors
The Piccolo Teatro manages 3 theatres: its historical headquarter, the Teatro Grassi, the Teatro Studio Melato and the Teatro Strehler.  For the hearing impaired, visually impaired people and for people that are civil invalids with an assessed disability equal or over 66%, there is a reduction of 50% on ticket price while a free ticket is provided to their companion. Tickets can be bought at the Teatro Strehler's box office, by showing an identification document and a Certificate of Disability or by calling the box office at the following number: tel. + 39 02 42411889.

 

Entrance
The Piccolo Teatro Grassi is in Via Rovello at Palazzo Carmagnola, a XV century building. From the main entrance and after overcoming an inclined ramp (slope: 8%), you enter a cloister with a central area (cobblestone floor) and a colonnade. The entrance to the theatre is on the left of the colonnade (stone floor) and has:
one step, a double leaf glass door (total width: 140 cm); an inclined ramp (length: 84 cm; slope: 9%); after a short flat path, there is a second inclined ramp (length: 103 cm, slope: 7%) after which you reach the box office and the balcony.

Alternatively, people with disability can cross the cloister and use an inclined ramp (slope: 10%). From here a double leaf glass door (total width: 200 cm.) takes to the theatre entrance and to the bookshop.

 

Reception
On the ground floor there are:

  • the box office (counter height: 117 cm)
  • the bookshop
  • the cloakroom (counter height: 101 cm, inclined ramp – slope: 13%).

 

Theatre hall
The building is on 2 floors, connected by 22 steps (15 cm high each, handrail on both sides) that can be overcome by a stairlift operated by the staff of the Theatre.
On the ground floor, there is the gallery and on floor -1 the stalls. The gallery has 4 places (1 row) for people in wheelchair and 4 seats for their companions (2 places for wheelchair users on the left side with 2 seats for their companions and 2 places for wheelchair users on the left side with 2 seats for their companions).
The stalls have 2 places (row 6) for wheelchair users and 2 seats for their companions.
Close to the places reserved for people in wheelchair, service staff ensures security in case of emergency

 

Orientation signage
In the building there are directional arrows with high contrast and large lettering (at least 7 cm).

 

Restrooms
The restroom on the ground floor has these features:

  • door width:  90 cm
  • suspended washbasin (clear floor area in front: 155 cm)
  • Floor standing toilet (height: 51 cm, clear floor area: in front: 126 cm, on the right side 205 cm, on the left side 30 cm).

On floor -1, there is another accessible restroom with these features:

  • Door width: 90 cm
  • suspended washbasin
  • Floor standing toilet (height: 51 cm, clear floor area: in front: 160 cm, on the right side 70 cm, on the left side 73 cm).

 

Caffè letterario

The “Caffè Letterario” is in the cloister, the most ancient part of Palazzo Carmagnola. To enter the Caffè Letterario, you must overcome an inclined ramp (slope: 10%) and a double leaf door (total width: 200 cm). The hall (70 seats) has square top tables with one central leg (clear space below: 72 cm). In the cloister there are a number of square top tables with one central leg (30 seats) (clear space below: 72cm).
