Milan Fintech Summit. You Ain't Gonna Miss It!

Fintech is definitely hot in Milano with the news from Nexi and Satispay, and the growth of home-bred scale-ups, such as Moneyfarm, Credimi, ConioFabrick. With many start-ups emerging involving banking and non-banking actors, the city has officially become one of the global fintech hubs. The Milanese are fast getting used to employing new fintech products, with high adoption rates in both retail and business solutions. Milan is currently home to over 11,000 financial firms, which rely on a skilled labor pool of 70,000 employees working in financial services, and a total college population of over 200,000 students coming from all over Italy and the world. And the industry is booming: in 2019, there was nearly 30% growth in the number of fintech startups.

Organized by Business International and Fintech District, this is the first ever Milan Fintech Summit. It is an online event, but the next one, scheduled for the fall of 2021, will take place in physical presence. American and european executives like Shachar Bialick, CEO of Curve, Laurent Le Moal, CEO of PayU, will decipher the evolution of the global industry of payments. More than 700 attendees are expected to interact with the discussants about the implications of Covid-19 for the further development of fintech and the future prospects of a booming sector.

 

The Summit is set to be a truly international event bringing together major players such as Revolut, N26, Tech Stars, and others. Similarly, the event will see a string of fintech upstarts like Cyber Defence Corporation, DarwinAI, Descartes Underwriting, Keyless Technologies, Oper Credits, Privasee, Tehama, Wondeur AI, Zelros, PocketnestSoisy, Cardo.ai, all pitching their wares to potential investors and partners.

 

Consolidated players and budding promises will get to exchange their views with regulators and stakeholders, such as Borsa Italiana, a powerhouse for European bond trading recently acquired by Euronext, and the Bank of Italy. Along Italy's bourse and central bank, participants include industry groups such as ABI, the Italian banking association, AIFI is the Italian private equity and venture capital association, and, it goes without saying, Italia Fintech, the association bringing together the main vertical players in the country's digital finance ecosystem. Major partners include Sella Bank, PayPal, Oracle and IBM. The initiative is under the auspices of Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, an experienced manager who has modernized the city and made it more attractive for people, capital, talent.
