The Museums in Milano and public libraries gradually reopen to the public with a tentative reopening strategy, from May 26th until the summer, to guarantee the safety of staff and the public.

Which museums are open?

The plan proceeds as follows:

 

MONDAYS

The civic museums remain closed

 

TUESDAYS 

 

 

WEDNESDAYS

 

THURSDAYS 

 

 

FRIDAYS 

 

 

SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS 

 

 

All the civic museums are open from 11:00 to 18:00. 

For all the other museums, please check the safety rules on the official websites of every institution.

Can I just turn up at a museum and enter or do I have to book?

Booking is recommended for entry to all civic museums (available on www.vivaticket.it). Visitors must indicate a preferred time slot and tickets can be purchased online. It is possible to purchase tickets at the museums' box offices, following the safety rules.

 

Reservation is also recommended for museums with free admission (Boschi-Di Stefano House Museum, Francesco Messina Studio-Museum, Museum of the Risorgimento, Palazzo Morando | Costume Fashion Image).

 

For all the other museums booking is strongly advised, please check the official websites of every institution.

Are exhibitions reopening?

Palazzo Reale will reopen to the public from May 28th, from Thursday to Sunday, at the following times:

 

  • Thursday: 11:00 to 22:30
  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 11:00 to 19:30

Last admission one hour before closing time.

Also open June 2nd and August 15th from 11:00 to 19:30.

 

Reservations - even for exhibitions or free categories - are mandatory and tickets must be pre-purchased. It is possible to book up to one hour before the visit, provided that the capacity allowed in each time slot is respected. At the moment it is not possible to book visits for groups or schools.

It is recommended to show up at the Royal Palace at the booked time, no more than 5 minutes in advance are allowed. It is necessary to wear the mask and sanitize the hands with the sanitizing solutions present to access each area of the Palace. The body temperature will be detected at the entrance.

 

The following exhibitions will reopen:

 

  • Georges de la Tour until September 27th, reservations at the official link or by phone on +39 02 92897755. The audio guide is included in the ticket in the form of an App that can be downloaded from the weekend of May 30 in the Apple and Google stores by entering the title of the exhibition.
     
  • Tutankhamon. Journey beyond darkness until August 30th, reservations at the official link. The audio guide is included in the ticket and available in sanitized and safe rental mode.
     
  • Roberto Cotroneo. Genius Loci until July 26th with free admission and reservations required at the official link.

 

 

The PAC | The Pavilion of Contemporary Art has already reprogrammed its exhibition calendar by moving the inauguration of Tania Bruguera’s personal exhibition - one of the highlights of the “I talenti delle donne” (The Talents of Women) programme - to October. Throughout the summer, starting from June 25th, it will present a new version of “Performing PAC. Made of Sound”, which narrates the interaction between contemporary art and music.

Are the public libraries open?

The Sormani Library, along with a first contingent of local libraries, will reopen from May 26th; the lending service for reservations made in March and the repayment of ongoing loans will be reactivated. The Libraries involved in this first phase will be open from Tuesdays to Saturdays with reduced working hours.

 

If the applicable health and legal framework is approved, other district libraries will gradually open from June 1st to 13th and public quota access to the open shelf areas will be duly regulated.
