Every week, three news items on the upcoming future of Milano and its metro community.

Milan Fashion Week ever more phygital

As remarked by Vogue in the various national editions, Milano continues to be at the forefront of the fashion world with the phygital model that alternates shows in presence (Prada and Valentino, for example) and virtual catwalks for established and novice designers. The resulting calendar is packed with 61 fashion shows and 57 presentations for buyers and guests (42 remotely and 15 in person). The luxury industry was less affected than other sectors by the pandemic and Milanese fashion creations continue to be exported across the world in impressive numbers: 66.5% of sales for Italian fashion manufacturing companies come from  outside Italy, with textiles leading the way, drawing 72.8% of its revenues from exports (source: 2020 Annual Fashion Talk, Area Studi Mediobanca). And with the city in the yellow zone, you will see more activity than we have been accustomed to in recent months.

Music Tech Europe Academy. At Milano BASE, the European Commission's program for music startups

Last week Music Innovation Hub and Media Deals launched the call to attend the Music Tech Europe Academy, the program promoted by the European Commission dedicated to digital innovation in the music industry. The intent is to promote startups in digital music through an open competition. Applications (which must include a video presentation in English, as well as a written presentation and CVs of all team members) can be sent until March 15th. For seven months, the ten winners will have as mentors producers and professionals from the international music industry and will participate in a hybrid academy that will touch base at BASE, the creativity and knowledge workshop of the Municipality of Milan in the former Ansaldo industrial area. It is the first time that a high-profile international project in music tech is coordinated by Italian professionals. The mission is to discover new entrepreneurial talents and digital entrepreneurs in a sector revolutionized by streaming music. Milano, the media and music capital of Italy and hotbed for digital startups, is the right place to do so.

Amphitheatrum Naturae, a green archeology park in the heart of Milano

Milano is also a Roman city. It was briefly the capital of the Western Roman Empire. Now the ruins of its vast Coliseum, located between via De Amicis and via Conca del Naviglio, will be the main attraction of a large green park open to citizens and tourists. The city deputy for urban planning defined the project "the most incredible of the next few years'', in a city that is expanding its green areas and reducing its carbon footprint thanks to the FORESTAMI project, according to which 3 million trees will be planted by 2030 (almost 300,000 already planted), many in collaboration with private actors. The works for the Park of the Amphitheatrum of Nature are scheduled to be completed by 2022, when this innovative green archeology project will bring Roman Milano back to the eyes of the world.
