Great Minds Resonate with Milano, Milano Resonates with Great Minds

At Smart City World Expo, Milano & Partners stand out among the DMOs in the world presenting Milano as more than a mere marketplace and tourist destination, but as a whole world vision based on humanist innovation and sustainable urban living; a city that constantly pays attention to what’s new and advanced in the world, welcoming global innovation leaders to feed on their knowledge and expertise.

RESONATE

RESONATE is our new program which puts smart people at the center of the city narrative: the bright minds and real talents that experience Milano and live its dynamic spirit, whether in their daily work or for the duration of an international event. It means that Milano resonates with minds from different fields and sectors of inquiry, giving life to thought-provoking exchanges between them, thus creating engaging content that is relevant for key opinion leaders in the industries of reference.

Ep. 1: Life Engineering

The protagonists of the first episode to be aired for the first time in Barcelona, called Engineering Life, are Janette Sadik-Khan, Principal at Bloomberg Associates and former commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation, and Gaia Pigino, Associate Head of Structural Biology Research Centre at the Human Technopole in Milano Innovation District.

Together, they explore how life sciences and urban planning intersect to enhance the quality of life in modern cities. Through a dynamic conversation, they discuss the parallels between cellular organization and city infrastructure, emphasizing how data-driven insights from both fields contribute to healthier, more resilient urban environments.

They reveal Milano’s evolution as a global hub for research and innovation, illustrating how adaptability and collaboration drive progress in both biology and urban design. In Milano’s unique landscape—where history meets cutting-edge advancements—they envision cities that harmonize scientific discovery with sustainable, people-centered urban spaces.

The conversation took place in the iconic Milanese setting of Sala Fontana at Museo del Novecento, symbolizing the city’s identity while providing a platform for hought leadership.
