YesMilano FDI Dispatch #6

Your newsletter to invest in Milano

At the end of the summer, we had 448 foreign firms in our pipeline, with the lion share represented by Fintech companies (151) and the Life Sciences (119), followed by ICT (84) and Agrifood (33).

The FDI team of YesMilano has been busy during the hot season, participating in trade events abroad and launching the second wave of our campaign on Google Ads about investment in Milano’s Life Sciences research ecosystem.

We are eagerly anticipating the Milan Fintech Summit, which will hold its third edition in presence on October 5-6-7. The CEOs of Italian and international Fintech companies, traditional intermediaries and banking institutions gather to asses current and future trends in financial innovations.

The event is organized by Fintech District, the reference ecosystem for fintech in Italy, and supported by YesMilano and Milano&Partners, which implements the City of Milano’s objectives to strengthen the role of Milan as capital of innovation and attract investment and talent, while creating business networking opportunities. New this year is an exhibition area where fintech firms will present their solutions and will be available for meetings and demonstrations.

The validity and effectiveness of the Milan Fintech Summit is demonstrated by the numbers of our Soft Landing program, which opens the doors of Milan’s financial community to foreign actors not yet operational in Italy. Since the last edition of the Summit, Fintech District and YesMilano FDI have come into contact with 73 foreign companies, 13 of which are unicorns: of these 11 have already become operational in Italy and 5 will be shortly.

The complete program and information on registration are available at www.milanfintechsummit.com

EU-Japan Biotech and Pharma Partnering Conference will be held in Osaka on September 26-30 (digital) and October 11 (physical). The event is mainly aimed at promoting opportunities for scientific collaborations between Japanese and European companies. The FDI Life Sciences Team of YesMilano will be given time for a pitch about Milano as an emerging European R&D pole for biotechnological and medical innovation (September 28, 10-10:20pm).

There are also two other things coming up.
On September 28 at Palazzo Giureconsulti, the YesMilano HQ before Duomo, there is “The New Tech Science”, a meeting which is part of Cantiere Futuro, an initiative of the Milano Chamber of Commerce and Wired Italia magazine to promote exchange, upgrade, and entrepreneurship in Milano’s ecosystem of startups, investors, corporations, and professionals.
Keynote speaker of the event will be Pierluigi Paracchi, founder of Genenta Science, the Italian biomedical company recently listed on the NASDAQ.

Then the FDI Unit of Yes Milano will be busy working as supporting organization of Meet in Italy for Life Sciences Startup Breeding 2022 (MIT4LS SUB2022), a workshop for the incubation, mentoring and scaling up of selected young firms in biotech to be held on October 19 in Milano (Le Village).
