YesMilano FDI Dispatch - July 2022

Your monthly wrap-up to invest in Milano

At the end of June, we at YesMilano FDI had nearly 400 firms in our pipeline, mostly in Fintech (143) and the Life Science (115). In terms of status, this was the breakup: 29 Aftercare, 6 Closed with success, 14 Engaged, 48 Lead, 146 Prospect, 142 Suspect.

Geographically, the US dominated with 28.7% of the international companies in contact with us, followed by the UK (11.4%), France (9.1%), Canada (7.9%), Nordic countries (5.8%), and Germany (5.5%).

June was a hot month also in terms of us being busy abroad. On June 7-9, we were in Amsterdam for Money 20/20, the Continent’s most important banking conference, with 6,500 delegates and 350 speakers from over 90 countries of the world. We met with 27 international financial firms there.

Then it was time to go to Paris for Viva Technology (June 15-17), Europe’s biggest tech event, bringing 91,000 in-person visitors to discover all the latest inventions and innovations and attend live conferences on the future of artificial intelligence, robotics, health technology, and much more at Porte de Versailles Expo (speakers included French president Macron). Digital attendance attracted an additional 300,000 visitors, while the VivaTech News channel was followed by more than 4.3 million people. The event ended up having more than 3 billion views on social networks! We went there to do meetings with 23 cutting-edge tech firms from Europe and North America.

Around the same time, some of us were in San Diego for Bio International (June 13-16), a trade event of the biotech and biopharma industry with over 3,000 companies exhibiting and more then 100 panel sessions for the duration of the fair. Milano&Partners joined the trade mission organized by the Italian Trade Agency and met with more than 20 companies at its dedicated booth.

Back in Milano, we recently signed an agreement with the Fin+Tech Accelerator for Milano&Partners to be the ecosystem partner of the initiative, also in view of the Milan Fintech Summit in early October.

Finally, on October 19, we will take part in Startup Breeding 2022, a one day pitching session for biotech and health tech startups that will take place in presence within Meet in Italy for Life Sciences (itself still a digital event). Our Life Sciences FDI team will present MIND and the innovation ecosystem for expanding biotech companies and investors.
