Looking for some ideas on what to do in Milano over the Easter weekend? We have done all the work for you by putting together some itineraries, events and out of town trips to make the most of Easter 2024.

What to see in Milano at Easter

The Easter weekend is a great opportunity to discover, or even rediscover, precious and unusual places in the city.

You can seek out the secret side of Milano to discover houses that have ears or huge stone men on the façades, wander through the streets of Milano’s "Burano" area or take a peek at gorgeous pink flamingos strutting around a leafy garden.

You might like to stroll around the Art Nouveau architecture in the city streets, admiring gilded houses with wrought iron décor shaped into flowers and … cats!

Spring has well and truly arrived, so why not tour the outdoor artworks dotted around the city, or maybe view Milano from above, to touch the sky with a finger between the ornate spires of the Duomo or from the lofty Torre Branca?

If, on the other hand, you are a thrill-seeker, don’t miss a tour of the scary places in Milano: did you know that the narrowest street in Milano is inextricably linked to the story of the city’s first serial killer?

You might want to choose one neighbourhood at a time and explore its streets to enjoy the local atmosphere. With this in mind we have created some quick and easy guides for you to explore Brera, the Magenta district with Leonardo's Last Supper, Milano’s historic centre, the Isola district behind the Bosco Verticale, the Romana neighbourhood, future home of the Olympic village, plus vibrant Porta Venezia.

Then, why not jump on a bike for a great ride: check out our cycling itineraries around the city.

A picnic in the park: the best places to go

A picnic in the park is a traditional way to celebrate Easter Sunday and Easter Monday: here are our suggestions on how to best organise your excursion and which park to choose. Parco Sempione with its must-see attractions or Parco della Guastalla, with its baroque fishpond that creates an evocative atmosphere?

Easter Monday day trip: the out-of-town destinations close to Milano

It is a Milanese tradition to take a jaunt out of the city on Easter Monday, and there are plenty of destinations to choose from for a day outdoors appreciating nature and culture.

Close to Milano is one of Lombardy’s cultural jewels: the city of Monza, with its stately Villa Reale and the largest enclosed park in Europe, its Duomo which houses the precious Iron Crown that has crowned kings and emperors, and the famous Monza Circuit, where the fastest motors in the world race around the tracks.

Lodi offers a lovely green city break that can also have touch of romance (for example with a mini-cruise along the river Adda), or a good dose of culture to admire castles and museums, with the added indulgence of tasting the typical cheeses, amaretti macaroons and biscuits.

Here you can find cycling day trips to reach Lodi and Monza with friends and family.

Did you know that Lombardy is the region with the largest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites? From the Venetian walls of Bergamo to the rock engravings in Val Camonica and the Sacri Monti (Sacred Mountains), just choose a destination and let yourself be captivated.

You might like to take the family to one of the many wildlife oases in Lombardy, like the WWF Oasis or the Cornelle Park, to get to know the animals up close.

Not forgetting, of course, an excursion to one of the nearby Lombardy lakes, delightful in spring. Visitors are spoiled for choice with Lake Como, Lake Maggiore and Lake Garda - strolling along the lakeside is one of the most relaxing pastimes and, if you want to bring your four-legged friends, we have listed the dog-friendly beaches around the shores.
