The Italian comic opera in two acts comes back to La Scala Theatre
What if is there a potion able to make people fall in love? Donizetti imagined that in order to write the music and the words of “The elixir of love”, the Italian comic opera split in two acts. The plot focuses on Nemorino, a timid lover unable to declare his passion for Adina. This is a music work really attached to the city of Milan since his first mise-en-scene took place at the Teatro of Cannobiana, today called Teatro Lirico.
In 1832, the year of debut, all the most important people of the city were fascinated by that plot with Iberian taste. The opera reaches Milano again at La Scala Theatre with the famous director Grischa Asagaroff - already on stage the last year with the same opera and "The Barber of Seville" for kids.
Everybody cannot wait to watch Tullio Pericoli scenes and to listen to Michele Gamba orchestra direction.
