From 4 October to 1 March 2020, the Museo del Novecento dedicates the largest Milanese retrospective of the last 50 years to the artist Filippo De Pisis, the protagonist of painting and writing between the two wars.
A tireless traveller and a versatile figure, he has travelled through countries and pictorial movements, leaving his personal mark.
Among the 90 paintings on display, you can admire lively city views, airy landscapes of the mountains dear to him, combinations of still life and intense portraits.
De Pisis's pictorial art lies in capturing atmospheres and faces, objects and nature, giving them a balanced harmony of colours. Colours that change according to the circumstances and are a salient feature of his work.
