Many students, Italians as well as internationals, from different Milanese design schools, participated to the contest “Re-Bikemi”, a competition launched with the purpose of coming out with new ideas to give new life to the components of bicycles of the public service BikeMi, that are no longer usable to transport people.

The jury selected 5 projects among the 34 arrived from 6 different Departments and Schools of Design. The projects chosen by the jury will become prototypes of new design objects which will be presented at the Milano Design Week 2022.

The objective of the competition was to collect ideas to give new life to the components of bicycles of the service BikeMi that are no longer usable to transport people, by transforming them into new design objects, according to the principles of the circular economy.

The prototypes of the 5 new design objects are going to be presented on the occasion of Milano Design Week 2022, with the following program:

  • preview, June 2 to 5 at the Mac, Museum of Contemporary Art, in Tito Lucrezio Caro square;
  • during the Milano Design Week, from 6 to 12 June at the space of WWF Italia, in via Tommaso Cazzaniga, with the awarding of the prize on 9 June 2022, at 6.30 p.m.
