In the past times people who moved in Milano in search of fortune tried to speak the dialect - a way to be accepted by the whole community and to feel part of it. As time passes, generations have lost the habit to speak "milanese" (milano dialect) among families.
Thus "Se Parla Milanes" promotes four days in order to discover the traditional and ancient Milano dialect among artists, dinners and cabaret nights. Everybody can participate: restaurants, libraries, stores, museums and people who still speak dialect everyday - such as Ercole, a delicatessen owner at Via Orti (Porta Romana area) who proudly hangs the sign “Se parla anca el milanes” in his store.
