Cerith Wyn Evans - "...The Iluminating gas"

Let there be light!

Via Chiese, 2

Like creating a continuum space-time at the HangarBicocca industrial area, Cerith Wyn Evans exhibition seems to be placed where the one by Lucio Fontana was set in February 2018. The two exhibitions both have a common thread, a neon focus appreciating spatial environments. Indeed bright light shapes and explores the whole space leading but also confusing the visitor projecting him to other worlds, opening up other dimensions. Evans exhibites 25 works in Milano, demonstrating a re-contextualization of them in a site-specific perspective with the supervision of the researchers Roberta Tenconi and Vicente Todoli. The author himself defined this exhibition as a "harmonious composition of light, energy and sound". Let there be light - he said.

The artist has also add soundtracks to this installation, since over the years he has collaborated with avant-garde musicians several times - from the Throbbing Gristle freak show installations to the multi-channel videos for the producer Florian Hecker, going through Keiji Haino's live sculptures. And energy? That is everywhere, "unconsciously" orchestrated by the public - with its unmovale but at the same time elusive geometries, Evans reminds us that everything can transform, even when we apparently do not realize it. A sort of panta rei, updated at the time of the luminous and ...illuminating gas.
