In Milano it is a tradition that the Duomo offers the city the Christmas Concert: on December 20th in the cathedral will be performed some passages of one of the most famous sacred compositions, that tells the story of the birth of Jesus according to the evangelists Luke and Matthew, the Oratory of Christmas BWV 248 by Johan Sebastian Bach (Weihnachts-Oratorium).
The work, interpreted by the instrumental and vocal Ensemble laBarocca and conducted by Maestro Ruben Jais, was composed by Bach in 1734 on the occasion of the Christmas festivities in Leipzig and was divided into 6 parts that were performed on several days from Christmas until Epiphany.
