The exhibition "Milano e gli anni '60", which will be held at Palazzo Morando from November 6th to February 9th, 2020, tells through artistic photographs, videos and objects, the history of Milano during the decade that has seen the city transforming as we see it today. During the '60s Milan experienced a season of great glory, characterized by an unstoppable excitement of creativity and a desire to leave behind the atrocities of the war. Every single event in the city was characterized by brainwave and almost nothing seemed capable to stop that enchantment.
Billie Holiday, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Chet Baker, Lucio Fontana, Piero Manzoni, the jazz clubs’ night life, Giorgio Gaber, Enzo Jannacci, Marco Zanuso, Bruno Munari, Vico Magistretti and Achille Castiglioni are just some of the main players of the “milanese” scene of these years: from any point of view Milano featured to have the characteristics of a glorious future.
From this enchantment Milan would wake up abruptly, turning in a single afternoon, from the most exciting dream to the most terrible of nightmares.
On December 12th of 1969 in Piazza Fontana a bomb exploded in the hall of the “Banca dell’Agricoltura”. An attack, or better, the attack dramatically marked the beginning of a new political and social era, that had changed the history of the country.
