When street culture meets the museum

From
To
Triennale di Milano
Viale Emilio Alemagna, 6

Already at first glance, the Korean artist Koo Jeong’s work recalls the original Californian swimming pools at the origins of the skateboarding movement. This street art work has generated a lot of considerations on what it means to bring an artistic and iconic element of street culture inside a museum. The Triennale has stated that the work is an intelligent way of bringing the game closer to the museum, and above all this is a way of confronting people of all ages and different tastes with street art. Admissions are free and the work has been created in collaboration with the skater community of Milano, since it does not leave out any important element that belongs to the "street". The absolute peculiarity lies in the fact that thanks to a phosphorescent green paint, the tub remains bright with lights off, creating a play of light which, in contact with the wheels of the boards, recalls nature. Workshops will also be organized to teach children this underground discipline.
