Those who want to enjoy great summer evening entertainment, between June and September this year, can count on a great city venue: the Cortile delle Armi at the Castello Sforzesco which will host the new season’s line-up of Milano è Viva - Estate al Castello, the latest version of the traditional Estate Sforzesca event. From June 21st to September 10th, 75 live events will light up the sky over Milano.

 

Pop, electronic and classical music plus theatre and dance will entertain audiences with numerous free or reduced-price performances (15 € or less entry fee). You can reserve your tickets here.

 

Inauguration on June 21st with the opening concert of Michele Bravi's tour, and wrap up performance by fan favourite Francesca Michielin on Sunday September 10th.

HIGHLIGHTS

MUSIC, AND MORE MUSIC

Commencing with Michele Bravi on June 21st and wrapping up with Francesca Michielin on September 10th, Estate al Castello's journey through the various genres of music features renowned artists Mario Lavezzi and Mogol in concert with the great Italian singer-songwriter genre on June 22nd, and Italian rapper Ghemon on Monday, June 26th with his hip pop and funk which, for the occasion, doubles up with stand-up comedy.

 

Italian music will be the star of the stage again with Fabio Concato on June 28th, Alex Britti on September 7th, and funk-rock band Casino Royale on September 4th.

Special evening date on August 31st: Sicilian singer-songwriter Carmen Consoli and British artist Elvis Costello will perform together on stage as part of a mini-tour that will also visit Palermo and Rome.

 

International music will also be featured onstage: from acid jazz icons Incognito (June 27th), Balkan music star Goran Bregović (July 14th), Canadian-American singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright (July 23rd) to avant-garde electronic pop diva Róisín Murphy (July 16th).

The British singer-songwriter Benjamin Clementine, who with his unconventional and incomparable poetic spirit has established himself on the world scene with three introspective albums, will take to the Castello Sforzesco stage on July 29th.

SPECIAL EVENINGS WITH MUSIC AT THE THEATRE

Don't miss the evening that blends music and theatre, stories and songs, on July 19th, with Luca Barbarossa and Stefano Massini, entitled La verità, vi prego, sull'amore (O Tell Me the Truth About Love).

 

To celebrate 50 years of the iconic Dark Side of the Moon, on September 5th, Luca de Gennaro and astrophysicist Fabio Periche will accompany the audience on a cosmic journey of science and music, introducing the performance of Pink Floyd's masterpiece by an exceptional supergroup.

DANCE AND CLASSICAL MUSIC

One incomparable name: Teatro alla Scala. With its La Scala in città 2023 programme, the most famous theatre in the world will also take to the Castello stage with two unmissable evenings: on July 10th with the Corps de Ballet, and on July 11th with the Philharmonic Orchestra.

THEATRE UNDER THE STARS

Naturally, here will also be space for summer theatre, with La Vita, il sogno (July 6th), Franco Loi’s adaptation of the historic text by Calderòn de la Barca, directed by Daniele Abbado, starring Giovanni Crippa, Giovanni Scifoni's monologue Santo Piacere (July 20th), and “Vieni avanti cretina, next!” (June 24th) which will see Serena Dandini lead a new theatrical format of female provocation and comedy.

 

Plenty more versions of comedy and satire with the renowned science communicator and stand-up comedian Barbascura X (September 9th), with Max Angioni, the comedian from Como, (July 2nd) and with comedy duo Francesca Fiore and Sarah Malnerich who will stage their irreverent and hilarious femsplaining show Mammadimerda (June 29th).
