Exhibition layout
The Interactive Cinema Museum (MIC), based on a joint project by the Italian Cinema Foundation and the Lombardy Region, is housed in the former tobacco warehouse. The museum tells the history of cinema in an original way, by surrounding the visitor with maps, information boards and interactive descriptions, from which a made to measure visit can be created.
The exhibition spaces are on the ground and mezzanine floors, which are connected to each other by 5 steps (h 15 cm), which can be avoided by using the elevator platform.
An interactive wall marks the start of the exhibition layout, and contains brief testimonies from actors, directors and visitors. To interact with the wall, go to the footprints marked on the floor and point to the part of the video that you want to see. There are three 'talking cabinets' along the route, in which the visitors can watch films with an Italian soundtrack, and two interactive touch screen tables (h 70 cm), the first with posters kept in the historic archives of the Cinema Foundation and the second dedicated to children, who can learn how to make a short animated film.
An interactive cube known as "mash machine" (102 cm from floor height) allows the visitors to experiment with music. When the coloured cube is slid along the illuminated surface, it produces vocal sounds.
There are 5 video projectors along the corridor leading to the cinema hall, which reproduce images from films without soundtrack on 7 screens (110 cm from floor height).
The entrance to the cinema hall has two consecutive double panelled doors (each panel is 87 cm wide). The cinema hall seats 84. 2 of the seats, situated at the back of the hall, are reserved for wheelchair users and those accompanying them.
