Take your citizenship by descent in Milano

The competence to carry out the recognition of Italian citizenship iure sanguinis  (that means by descent) is in charge of the Mayor of the Municipality where the person concerned has established his residence.

The assessment is made on a case by case basis.

That said, it is still necessary to make an appointment in person for a preliminary examination of the documents available.

You can put together all the documentation in your possession and make an appointment on the Comune di Milano website to examine the situation together with aspecialized city registry employee who will indicate if the documentation is sufficient or what further papers to obtain and add to the file.

For further details, see the page on citizenship on the Comune di Milano website
