Follow the instructions of your University/ Academy for enrolment, UniversItaly registration, and Visa application.
Students from the EU, ask for the European Health Insurance Card, and S1 for mif needed. Every student can enjoy the public health service in Italy, for free or by paying a yearly fee (see below).
You can apply for your Tax Code / Codice Fiscale from the Italian Consulate of your area. You can also get it when in Milano (see below).

The Tax Code or Codice Fiscale is a unique identification code that you'll need for nearly all administrative tasks. It’s free to obtain and is valid for a lifetime.
It can be requested via e-mail or in person to the nearest Revenue Agency office.
Milano has an extensive public transportation system, including buses, trams, and the metro (subway). Purchase tickets at metro stations, newsstands, or using the ATM Milano official app.
The Municipality of Milano is the M1 zone (called area urbana):
- Single ticket: € 2.20 (M1-M3) You can also tap your bank/credit card on the totem.
- Students under 27: € 22 per month or € 220 per year
- Regular fare: € 39 per month or € 350 per year
If you live or travel outside the Municipality of Milano, the pass must be purchased depending on the number of zones travelled (from Mi1 up to Mi9 zones).
If you are subject to a visa for study, you are required to apply for the residence permit when in Milano. Apply within 8 working days of arrival and submit it at a Post Office that features .

Temporary registration is available for EU students staying temporarily in Milano more than 4 months and up to one year, e.g. exchange students.

Residence registration is the best option for those planning an extended stay in Milano. EU students resident in Milano can opt to vote from here for EU elections.
