DESIGN WEEK 2025: Sarpi/Chinatown - Monumentale
Not to be missed events

Milano Design Week makes a welcome return to reanimate the city, and the Sarpi district confirms itself as one of the most engaging and multifaceted creative hubs of the event. With visionary installations, thought-provoking meetings, and projects that connect cultures and generations, here’s our handpicked selection of the must-see events for this 2025 edition.
The Sarpi district hosts the Milano Design Week 2025 with the bold theme Do It Better, a clear and incisive message to improve, innovate and connect through design.
This edition has a special significance, as it celebrates 100 years of the Chinese community in Milano with an illustrated artwork exhibited in the public space. An artistic journey through past, present and future, where creativity becomes the universal language to depict stories and build bridges between cultures.
The beating heart of the Sarpi district, the Fabbrica del Vapore cultural venue, holds its ranking as the undisputed protagonist and central hub for the area’s main events. A series of exhibitions, installations, talks and performances will narrate the countless facets of contemporary design. A space to enjoy exploring enthusiastically, where new ideas take shape and the boundary between art, design and innovation becomes increasingly blurred.
Every evening, throughout the week, a free electronic music festival will entertain visitors.
Amongst the projects not to be missed: Metamorphosis. Transforming Italian Architecture, which aims to merge the fantastic scope of science with the experimental dimension of research, investigating the applications of spatial architecture as a means of diffusing modern and contemporary Italian architectural work throughout the world.
Nanda Vigo. Archive Sinecdoche. Art architecture design performance tells the story of the well-known artist, designer and architect with selected documents and materials, ranging from art to architectural scale design, from design to performances, from interior design to urban space design.
ForA - A new way of thinking about design, with a name that plays on the Milanese dialect (‘föra’ means fuori or outside), this event is not just an exhibition, but a real space for experimentation. Conceived to break the mould and to challenge classic design narratives, it gives voice to fresh and unpredicted visions. A temporary pavilion becomes a portal to the future of the project, where ideas count more than signatures.
Lorenzo Damiani - about wood, is an exhibition dedicated to the innovative use of natural materials to reduce the use of resources without sacrificing creativity and functionality. Objects in wood and prefabricated woods, dismantled and reassembled to highlight their components and construction methods, will be exhibited alongside drawings, models and other creations.
On the occasion of Design Week 2025, the ADI Design Museum presents the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: ITALY. Art and Design in Italy 1915 – 2025 exhibition, conceived and curated by Stefano Casciani, with installation and graphics by Piero Lissoni/GraphX. The exhibition explores the dialogue between art and industry in Italian design, recounting over a century of creative cross-pollination and innovation, from Futurism to contemporary research.
Alongside the exhibition, from April 7th – 13th, the museum offers an extensive program of events, talks, installations and concerts, with the participation of protagonists of Italian and international design.
Special opening hours of the Museum for Design Week until 21:00.
Design Group Italia, part of the Alkemy Group and its BX division, presents an idea that is as simple as it is powerful: why not involve our new generations in the world of design and creativity as ‘tools’ to face challenges and find innovative solutions?
Working in direct collaboration with young students, this event offers a unique opportunity for those who really want to see and understand how design can change the future.
