My Milano... in colours: Eduardo Perez Gonzalez Ocantos
An Argentinian designer in Milan

Milan is like a woman, even more than beautiful, it’s really fascinating.
For an artist’s point of view the city is a fundamental benchmark, both for culture and for fashion. Milan beats Rome and Florence because everything to be seen is on the inside; it is hidden away, whilst in Rome and Florence everything is on show.
And everything flows through Milan. Milan is cosmopolitan, multicultural and loving; it’s not "romantic", that’s Venice.
I’ve been coming to Milan for the last10 years to present my Fashion Week shows and, each time, I discover new inspiration for my work as a stylist. I also opt to visit Milan at other times of the year, both because I re-establish ties with the Argentine community - which goes unnoticed in the multicultural context - and also because you need continuity to get to know the city well: I visit in May, June, July, August and September, not just for the fashion shows. In September, for example, I celebrated my birthday at the Magna Pars hotel with a friend.
For the rest of the year I work in a lot of other countries like, for example, Romania, where I showed in Dracula’s Castle - Brukenthal Palace in Transylvania - France for Paris Fashion Week which was a great
opportunity to show at the Salons Hoche in Paris and also Serbia, Uruguay, Mexico and Latin America.
I don't really like to mention places because it sounds snobbish, but if I was persuaded to name a few old favourites then I would say Piazza Duomo and everything that happens around it, pizza at Spontini’s and a Negroni sbagliato cocktail at Bar Basso, a popular classic.
l’Isola è per viverci
I love taking the tram or walking through Brera and Porta Romana; Isola is for living there. Compared to my city Buenos Aires, Milan has so much history that you breathe.
Persistence and talent along with a focus on sustainability, technology and materials are the main attributes towards success; these are the aspects that have changed the world of culture and art. They also need to be able to recognize beauty: if you are beautiful you attract beauty.
More than a designer I see myself as an artist. Art, however, is not just for anyone: you open a door, a window and you never close it again
Apart from the prices, Milan has improved a lot in the last 10 years: there’s a lot of greenery, parks, Parco Ravizza, for example.
Like a millionaire ... of colours, with all the joy that distinguishes myself and shines through from my creations!
