The City offers several opportunities of interacting with the local business community and connecting with a broader thriving ecosystem, engaging in innovation and business development initiatives.  

Italian companies cover 27% of European exports in the textile and clothing industry: in 2022 revenues of the Italian fashion industry are expected to reach €92 bln, +10.5% vs.2021.  

Lombardy ranks first in Italy in terms of turnover of the wood-furniture supply chain (€9.6 bln in 2021 against €49 bln Italian turnover, for an export value of €4.3 bln, 29% of the total).  

Based in Milano: 


  • Over 30 professional associations representing operators, manufacturers, suppliers, retailers and designers in Fashion&Design sectors.  

  • Confindustria Moda, the national federation of companies and associations of textiles, fashion and accessories. Based in Milan, it represents around 64,000 companies with 575,000 employees and €94 bln revenues.  

  • Federlegnoarredo, the Italian federation of furniture and lighting industries. 

  • Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the National Chamber for Italian Fashion, which promotes and coordinates the development of Italian fashion, regulating the national and international initiatives, e.g. the Milano Fashion Week.  

  • Altagamma Foundation, that gathers high-end Italian cultural and creative companies globally recognized as ambassadors of Italian style.
