Our monthly overview of the art scene
Spring is blooming in Milano bringing a resurgence of culture, and we have selected a city-wide roundup of art events for you.

The monthly selection commences by capturing the secrets and beauty of Le Stanze dell'Arte (Art Rooms) that opens the doors of the city’s museums with guided tours and special events as part of Milano Museo City, and we conclude with Art Week - from March 28th to April 3rd - in conjunction with Miart, the international contemporary art and design fair, from April 1st to 3rd.
Aside from the traditional artistic venues, we suggest some new places and events that are emerging on the Milanese cultural scene, starting with the first Graphic Design Festival in Milano by way of the innovative immersive languages of new media art: from the MEET exhibition project, by artist Giuliana Cunéaz, to Beautiful Gallery, the new way of experiencing art where the visitor has permission to be themselves and become the real protagonist.
We suggest keeping an eye on the Triennale exhibitions this month so as not to miss, for example, Steinberg’s amazing illustrations, the design of maestro Ettore Sottsass and the iconic gaze of Giovanni Gastel.

C'è tanto spazio laggiù in fondo (There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom) from March 2nd until April 2nd: MEET invites you to explore its main theme which is the creative potential that arises from the intersection of art, science and technology.
The itinerary is divided into three Galleries and culminates in the Immersive Room.
Admission to Be Yourself is an interactive artistic experience, the only one of its kind in Italy. Until March 27th, you can let yourself go and be inspired as you are immersed in a deluge of colours and interactive emotions at the Beautiful Gallery in Via Bergognone 26, the most "instagrammable" museum in Milano.
Stellar design and visual arts exhibitions at Triennale in March.
Ettore Sottsass, Struttura e Colore (Structure and Colour) is the first of a triptych dedicated to the master of design, until April 10th, in which objects are seen as activators of gestures and rituals. Also by Sottsass is the permanent installation Casa Lana, the unmissable reconstructed interior of a mid-1960s private residence in Milano.
Until March 13th you can still admire the extraordinary urban graphics depicting Milano and New York by the famous illustrator Saul Steinberg, and the 200 portraits by Giovanni Gastel, The People I Like: a multifaceted photographic work with faces of characters from the world of culture, design, art, fashion, music, entertainment and politics.
During the month of March, Milano becomes a visual and cultural hub for modern and contemporary art with an extensive calendar of events covering both Milan Art Week and Miart.
Museums, art venues, private foundations and design spaces offer a packed programme of exhibitions, initiatives, performances, inaugurations and special openings.
Miart, the international modern and contemporary art fair, will be held from April 1st to 3rd at Fieramilanocity.
Galleries from all over the world will dialogue with established contemporary artists or emerging generations. The art itinerary starts by honouring tradition, with a special section dedicated to the twentieth century, it shifts to recent works, plus signature or collectable design to then look boldly to the future.
