During May, Milano resounds with music - from Piano City to Radio Italia live and the indie eco-sustainable MIAMI music festival at the Idroscalo - but it also features two amazing Euroderby matches that promise some moments of awesome football!

Amongst the great upcoming exhibitions are Leandro Erlich’s incredible artworks at Palazzo Reale, and Sebastião Salgado powerfully evocative images at the Fabbrica del Vapore.

But even just a stroll around the city to enjoy the good weather and a great aperitivo is always an excellent choice!

The matches of a lifetime: two Euroderbys to qualify for the Champions League final

On May 10th and May 16th at San Siro Stadium

Whatever happens next, a Milanese team will definitely play in the Champions League final in Istanbul but, before we get to that occasion, there are two highly emotional matches to be played where the teams will battle it out to fight for the cup.

May 10th is the date set for the Milan - Inter match, May 16th for Inter - Milan: two recurring challenges that have been battled out many times in the past.

12th April 2005 is a date that’s inscribed on the memory of both the winners and the losers, the Milan and the Inter fans. This was the last time that the historic Derby della Madonnina upped the ante and stepped onto the pitch to the tune of the UEFA Champions League anthem.

However, due to flares thrown onto the pitch, one of which struck the Milan goalkeeper Dida on the shoulder, the Rossoneri won the game on aggregate. The moment is captured in the iconic photo of rivals Materazzi and Rui Costa standing together at the end of the match-clash.

18 years later history is destined to repeat itself, with Stefano Pioli and Simone Inzaghi’s teams ready to give it their all.

Don't miss the opportunity to attend two magical evenings of great football.

Piano City

From May 19th to 21st

Pianocity is a musical invasion that transforms Milano into sounds, rhythms, spaces and silences, be it fortissimo or pianissimi; it doesn’t wait for its audience to arrive but goes out to meet the public with concerts in the piazzas, houses and unconventional spaces, peacefully invading the entire urban area, from the centre to the outskirts.

PianoCity is inclusive: quality music for everyone, not just for the few.

Most of the concerts are free to enter, others can be booked from May 4th onwards.

RadioitaliaLive - Great Italian music in the heart of Milano

Piazza Duomo - Saturday, May 20th

After the great return to live events in 2022, Radio Italia Live comes to Piazza Duomo on May 20th with an evening dedicated to the greats of Italian music.

Hosted by the comic duo Luca Bizzarri and Paolo Kessisoglu, the event announces a preliminary line-up of artists from the Italian music scene, shortly to be confirmed.

Admission to the concert is completely free.

The exhibitions of the month - Leandro Erlich and Sebastião Salgado

From April 22nd and May 12th

The famous Bâtiment, in which visitors simulate climbing the façade of a large building, the illusory Swimming Pool that appears to be filled with water, or the famous architectural works suspended in the void are just some of the mega installations that are part of the first major European exhibition dedicated to Argentine artist Leandro Erlich. Oltre la soglia, (Over the threshold), in the Palazzo Reale halls and courtyard from April 22nd to October 4th

Are you ready to let the extraordinary enter into the ordinary?

Sebastiao Salgado. Amazônia: Fabbrica del Vapore from May 12th to November 19th offers a total immersion into Salgado’s Amazonian universe through his incredible photographs which interact with the realistic sounds of Jean-Michel Jarre's soundscape.

MiaMi, the festival of beautiful music and kisses

Circolo Magnolia - From May 26th to 29th

As every year, Circolo Magnolia is ready to host the indie MI AMI Festival for lovers of alternative music, which opens the season from May 26th to 29th.

Among some the artists already announced on the line-up are: the pop music collective BNKR44; Dargen D'Amico; the disarmingly expressive and elegant singer-songwriter Ginevra; L'officina della camomilla, alternative music band; the LoveGan 126 collective with an exquisitely rap-urban sound; Verdena, and Fulminacci, the legendary Roman singer who sang Santa Marinella at the Sanremo festival in 2021.

This eco-sustainable and anti-waste festival commits to the reforestation of the Idroscalo through the planting of new trees in the festival area.
