Piano City Milano

The soundtrack of the changing city

From
To
GAM Galleria d'arte Moderna - Daytime Piano Center

During the weekend from 17 to 19 May 2019, discover the corners of the city through over 50 hours of free and widespread music that Piano City offers, transforming Milano into a large concert hall.

From 2012 the piano festival accompanies with its soundtrack the changes of the city, animating squares, houses, skyscrapers, terraces, parks, gardens, courtyards, hospitals and prisons, art galleries and theaters and expanding every year also in renovated or unexpected spaces: this year the Palazzo di Giustizia, the Central Station, the Nolo district, the Cortile della Rocchetta at Castello Sforzesco, the Refettorio Ambrosiano, Palazzo Pirelli and Palazzo Lombardia, the Napoleonic Foundry Eugenia, the reception center on Via Corelli, to arrive to the Rogoredo wood with a concert with a strong symbolic meaning.

At the Main Stage of the GAM - Daytime Piano Center - we add the novelty of the music nights of the Night Piano Center at the Palazzina Liberty, where we can listen to concerts after midnight, with wireless headphones that will allow you to immerse yourself in the beauty of music under the full moon and in the trees.

You will be able to watch the suggestive sunrise at the back of the S. Maria Delle Grazie basilica or at the Snai San Siro racecourse against the backdrop of Leonardo's monumental horse or at the sunsets of the Milanese skyline from Palazzo Pirelli and Palazzo Lombardia.

Experience music even on three wheels by discovering the most evocative places in the center - Piano Tandem - or on four wheels with assisted pedaling at the Biblioteca degli Alberi, the latest born among city parks (Piano Risciò).

Piano City in its declaration of love for the city has always been sensitive to environmental sustainability. It invites you to go to concerts by bicycle or public transport and to equip yourself with a water bottle or thermos to fill in fountains and water dispensers and not to use plastic bottles.

Here you can find some highlights from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 May. You can find the complete programme on the official website.

PIANO CITY DEDICATES ITS DAWNS TO THE GENIUS OF LEONARDO

At Piano City Milano this year the sun rises behind the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie and its Refettorio, where the Last Supper, a UNESCO heritage site, is kept. In the year of the celebrations of 500 years after Leonardo's death, the dawn of 18 April arises with Alexandra Stréliski, a French-Canadian composer of neoclassical music who will bring rich and cinematic images to the minds of listeners.

At dawn on April 19, the notes of the Italian-Turkish pianist Francesco Taskayali will resound at 5:00 am against the backdrop of the monumental Leonardo's Horse at the Snai San Siro racecourse.
