"BOCELLI:MUSIC FOR HOPE" - CONCERT IN DUOMO TO CELEBRATE EASTER

Sunday, April 12, 2020, on the occasion of Easter, the icon of international music Andrea Bocelli will perform from the Duomo of Milano in a solo performance streamed worldwide.

THE REPERTOIRE

The tenor said he was honored and happy to have accepted the invitation addressed to him by the City and the Cathedral, who will welcome him thanks to the hospitality of the Archpriest and the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo.

The Church's doors, currently closed to all, will open exceptionally for the sole Andrea Bocelli and for Emanuele Vianelli, playing one of world’s largest pipe organs, that will accompany the tenor on the notes of an evocative repertoire of sacred music, composed of carefully selected pieces for organ and solo voice. The chosen musical pieces will include the well-loved Ave Maria setting by Bach/Gounod and Mascagni’s Sancta Maria.

The concert, bearer of a hope message addressed to Italy and the World, is promoted by the City of Milano and the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, produced by Sugar Music and Universal Music Group, thanks to the generous contribution of YouTube. Andrea Bocelli’s participation is entirely pro-bono (in collaboration with Almud and Maverick Management).

Monsignor Gianantonio Borgonovo, Archpriest of the Duomo of Milano, recalled that the Cathedral is "the home of the people of Milano", and right from here will radiate the message of hope, empathy and brotherhood brought by the voice of Bocelli.

Finally, Bocelli himself stated that: “Thanks to music, streamed live, bringing together millions of clasped hands everywhere in the world, we will hug this wounded Earth’s pulsing heart, this wonderful international forge that is reason for Italian pride.
