Defining Peter Lindbergh just a photographer would be quite a reduction. His lens on women's bodies and faces has always had the features of a moral gaze aimed at investigating their intensity, because no one like him was aware that there was nothing deeper than the surface. The exhibition Heimat. A sense of belonging, a wide selection of published and unpublished works set up in the spaces of Armani/Silos, boasts as its curator, in collaboration with the Peter Lindbergh Foundation, the great designer Giorgio Armani, who shared a close collaboration with the author since the 80s.

The photographer’s point of view, focused on the search for a raw beauty in female figures and in the places represented, is developed in three sections within the exhibition: The Naked Truth portraits, Heimat atmospheres, the brave images of The Modern Heroine. Lindbergh's black and whites are able to bring us metaphorically back to "home". "Place of the Heart" is the closest translation to the German word Heimat - the background belonging to the artist, which here is revealed through the industrial backdrop of the images, filtered by a strong sense of humanity, able to go beyond the aesthetic barriers of fashion photography. Within these three "movements", Heimat exhibition describes the complexity and immediacy of the "new realism" by Lindbergh, whose work is considered by Armani as "an indelible contribution to our culture, not only for fashion".
