YesMilano FDI Dispatch - May 2022

Your monthly wrap-up to invest in Milano

The FDI team of YesMilano is accelerating on its task to bring innovative foreign companies to the Milano metro area and assist them to set up shop in the city. At the end of April 2022, there were 286 firms in our pipeline, with Fintech and the Life Sciences taking the lion share (both at 31%), then investment in ICT and digital transformation (16%), followed at some distance by the Agrifood business (9%).

Last month, YesMilano FDI team took part in the Canadian Fintech Summit (Toronto, April 5-6) and Innovate Finance Global Summit (Digital, April 4-5).

We also gave our energies to the Demo Day of the Fin+Tech accelerator (Milano, Talent Garden, April 12), closing event of the first edition of Fin+Tech, the acceleration program dedicated to startups that develop solutions and services in the fintech and insurtech, part of the National Accelerators Network of CDP, Italy’s largest investment bank, born from an initiative of CDP Venture Capital with Digital Magics, Startupbootcamp, Fintech District, Nexi and Credem as promoters. During the event, 16 startups presented their projects to promoters, partners and numerous investors of the Italian ecosystem. On the occasion, the program of the new call was announced, which opens important growth opportunities for startups, both Italian and foreign, which intend to open an office in Italy. Starting from May 31, 2022 and until September 25, 2022, startups will be able to send their applications via the website www.finplustech.eu.

On May 16-18, we attended Bio Equity Europe, which took place at Hotel Melià in Milano, breaking all previous records with over 700 in-person attendees. Our Life Sciences specialists promoted Milano’s investment opportunities and free soft landing services with a dedicated booth and met with 11 foreign companies interested in understanding the local opportunities. The excitement of the international biotech community for the initiative, an absolute first for Italy, was shown by the fact that tickets for physical admission sold out in just a few weeks.

Finally, from June 13 to June 16, we will join the Italian Trade Agency collective stand at the San Diego Bio International Convention, one of the main Life Sciences events in the world, which this year returns in physical presence.
