The Renaissance of Bergamo and Brescia at Palazzo Marino
Christmas exhibition with works by Lotto, Moretto, Savoldo and Moroni

Every year a traditional Christmas exhibition is held at Palazzo Marino, and 2021 is no exception. A different masterpiece is always on display during the holiday season, with free admission to the public.
This year, from December 2nd to January 16th 2022, four Renaissance artists from Bergamo and Brescia are the protagonists of this renowned cultural event: Lorenzo Lotto, Alessandro Bonvicino (known as il Moretto), Giovan Girolamo Savoldo and Giovan Battista Moroni.
With an innovative layout in the Sala Alessi, The Renaissance of Bergamo and Brescia exhibition features some major highlights of this artistic period, within which the young Caravaggio honed his skills, paving the way for modern art.
The four works are Mystical Wedding of Saint Catherine of Alexandria and Niccolò Bonghi by Lorenzo Lotto, on loan from Bergamo’s Accademia Carrara; San Nicola di Bari presents the pupils of Galeazzo Rovellio to the Madonna enthroned with Child painted by Alessandro Bonvicino (il Moretto) and The Adoration of the Shepherds by Giovan Girolamo Savoldo, from the Tosio Martinengo Art Gallery in Brescia; Madonna and Child with Saints Catherine of Alexandria, Francis and the offerer by Giovanni Battista Moroni, on loan from the Brera Art Gallery.
