Parking
The Museo Diocesano is sited in a Ztl area with electronic access control. In Corso di Porta Ticinese, in front of the no. 95, there is a parking space reserved for disabled parking permit holders. It is also possible to park along the blue striped parking in Via Gian Galeazzo. Disabled parking permit holders can park in the square in front of the church of Sant’Eustorgio. There is a reserved parking for disabled parking permit holders in corso di Porta Ticinese.

Entrance
Starting from 2016 the Museum is part of the Chiostri di Sant’Eustorgio. The museum is on the left side of the Basilica and can be accessed by a big doorway, after which you follow a 40 mt paved bumpy path. The entrance has two consecutive doors, the first one is a double leaf door (78 cm wide each) and the second one is a hinged door (98 cm).

 

Reception
In the entrance hall there are:

  • Infopoint (counter height 121 cm)
  • ticket office (counter height 121 cm)
  • wardrobe (cabinets at different heights from the ground).

Along the corridor connecting the entrance hall to the café there is:

  • a bookshop (counter height: 90 cm)

Two manual wheelchairs are  available for visitors for free. The museum staff is at your disposal for information and hospitality.

 

Lift
The lift links all the floor of the building and it has the following features:

  • door width: 90 cm, cabin 150x154 cm
  • Lift push buttons panel with embossed Braille printing at a maximum height of 138 cm.
  • acoustic and visual signal on arrival at the floor.
  • emergency bell (h 120 cm).

 

Exhibition itinerary

From the ticket office, after overcoming 6 consecutive steps (h 16 cm) or through an alternative itinerary, accompanied by the museum staff, you reach the lift. Along the corridor, on the ground floor, there is an exhibition room where you can admire works of art coming from the Basilica di Sant’Ambrogio and from the Diocese. These are important exhibits of the history of Lombardy from XVI to the XIX century. To access the room you must overcome a step which can also be avoided by a ramp (slope of 14%).
On the mezzanine floor there are: a big conference room, the “Sala dell’Arciconfraternita del Santissimo Sacramento” and the “Sala Previati”.
The exhibition rooms on the first floor host works of art coming from different private collections. To access some of these rooms you must overcome a step (h 11 cm) followed by an 80 cm wide passageway or you can use a ramp (slope of 5%).
The exhibition rooms of the Monti collection (passageway: 74 cm wide) are totally accessible.
In the basement, there are 7 exhibition rooms (the narrowest passage is 94 cm wide) where you can admire gold and silver sacred artefacts of different historical periods. Captions ( 110 cm from the ground) and information panels (170 cm. from the ground) are placed close to the works of arts.

 

Orientation Signage
The building has:

  • directional arrows written in large letters (at least 7 cm) and well contrasted
  • symbols of the toilets well contrasted, at eye level, medium to large size.

 

Restrooms
There are two toilets equipped for people with disability and an accessible toilet.
The accessible toilet is on the ground floor (near the bookshop) and it has these features:

  • dressing with hinged door (91 cm wide) and suspended washbasin (space in front: 140 cm)
  • bathroom with sliding door (90 cm wide)
  • suspended washbasin (space  in front 140 cm)
  • floor-standing toilet (space in front: 116 cm, on the right side 68 cm, on the left side 43 cm).

A toilet equipped for people with disability is on the underground floor and it has these features:

  • dressing with hinged door (84 cm wide)
  • bathroom with hinged door (90 cm)
  • suspended washbasin (space in front 139 cm)
  • floor-standing toilet (space in front 200 cm, on the right side 96 cm, on the left side 31 cm, handrail along the toilet perimeter).

The second toilet equipped for people with disability is on the first floor and it has the following features:

  • dressing with sliding door (88 cm) and suspended washbasin (space in front 140 cm)
  • bathroom with sliding door (88 cm)
  • suspended washbasin (space in front 145 cm)
  • floor-standing toilet (space in front 138 cm, on the right side 122 cm, on the left side 23 cm, horizontal grab bar on the right side).

 

Emergency exit
Emergency routes are marked. The alarm device is visual and acoustic.

 

Bar/Café
On the ground floor there is a café, near the bookshop (hinged door: 94 cm wide), that can be reached overcoming a ramp (slope of 8%, 95 cm long). It has a small dining room with round tables with four legs (free space underneath 69 cm), 10 chairs (seat height 44 cm).
