Parking
The Museum is located a short walk from the Duomo in Ztl (limited traffic areas). It is possible to park on Piazza Fontana or in Piazza Diaz (both have one parking space reserved for people with permits for citizens with disabilities) and on Via Pecorari on the blue lines.

It is possible to book guided tours and workshops.
People with visual impairment can book tactile visits; deaf people can book visits with the support of LIS interpreters.
Wheelchairs are available at the entrance.
Priority access is reserved to pregnant women and/or with kids. Parking area for baby-strollers and baby carriers are avaliable at the desk.
Entrance
The main entrances, located in Via Marconi and in the square in front of Palazzo Reale, have no steps and there is a sliding door (170 cm).
Reception
At level 0 (ground floor) there are:
- the ticket office (counter height 110 cm)
- the cloakroom (counter height 110 cm),
- the bookshop.
Exhibition itinerary
The museum is hosted in the Palazzo dell'Arengario. It develops on 5 levels, linked by accessible lifts; alternatively it is possible to use a circular ramp with a gradient not suitable for unaccompanied wheelchair users.
The Arengario and the second floor of Palazzo Reale are directly linked by a walkway suspended.
On level -1 there are the teaching workshops and a conference hall.
At level 0 there are rooms dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
Levels 1, 2 and 3 house the artistic works, including a plaster copy of a sculpture by Boccioni for tactile reading. At level 1 there is the famous painting Il Quarto Stato (the fourth state) by Pelizza da Volpedo. There is seating in the exhibition halls.
On level 3 there is a mezzanine floor with a display of various works by Fontana: it can be reached by a stair lift, ask museum personnel for assistance.
Lifts
The museum is equipped with three lifts and a goods lift.
The first lift links all the floors from -1 to 2 and it has these features:
- width automatic door 90 cm, cabin 127x138 cm,
- raised control panel and in Braille at maximum height of 135 cm,
- acoustic and visual signal for arrival at the floor.
The second and third lifts link all the levels from -1 to 3 and they have these features:
- width automatic door 90 cm, cabin 142x150 cm,
- raised control panel and in Braille at maximum height of 130 cm,
- acoustic and visual signal for arrival at the floor.
The goods lift links all levels and it has these features:
- width automatic door 180 cm, cabin 200x120 cm,
- raised control panel and in Braille at maximum height of 130 cm,
- acoustic and visual signal for arrival at the floor.
Restrooms
On level -1 there is a restroom equipped for people with disabilities and these are the features:
- width door 90 cm,
- space for manoeuvre 150x150 cm,
- WC with grab bars on both sides.
The restroom on level 2 has:
- width door 85 cm,
- space for manoeuvre 120x100 cm,
- height WC 55 cm with grab bar on the right-hand side.
A bathroom at level -1 is equipped with changing table.

Parking
Piazza del Duomo is a pedestrian zone, not allowed to cars. It is possible to park in the underground garage of Piazza Diaz or on the blue stripes in the nearby streets; there are also parking spaces reserved for disabled parking permit holders in via Pecorari, Piazza Diaz, Largo Schuster and Piazza Fontana.

Visitors can request audio guides. The audio guides have a Braille keyboard.
A manual wheelchair is available on request.
The Museo del Duomo offers blind and partially sighted visitors the opportunity to take advantage of a service of tactile guided tours conducted by specialized operators. More than 20 works have been selected to be explored by touch allowing direct contact with artistic materials and techniques.
Guided tours are organized for deaf people with LIS interpreter and with an art historian.

Entrance
The entrance, located on the left side of the courtyard of Palazzo Reale, has a small inclined ramp (slope of 5%) and a double leaf door (76 cm wide each). It is also possible to use the adjacent hinged door (108 cm wide).
Reception
On the ground floor there are:
- the ticket office (counter height: 112 cm)
- the wardrobe (counter height: 110 cm).

Exhibition Itinerary
The exhibition itinerary includes a visit to the museum and the Church of San Gottardo in Corte. The first floor is used for temporary exhibitions. The exhibition, on the ground floor, is divided into 13 thematic areas on a circular path. The tour begins with the Treasure of the Cathedral. In the other rooms there are statues, paintings, tapestries, architectural models, plaster terracotta and some stained glass windows from the cathedral. The exhibition spaces are large, some connections between the various rooms have inclined ramps (maximum length: 5 meters and variable slope from 5% to 9%) and passages (110 cm wide).
About halfway through the exhibition, it is possible to admire a copy of the Madonnina, a faithful reproduction of the original in 1: 1 scale.
The copy is located in the internal courtyard that connects the Museo del Duomo to the church of San Gottardo; to access the courtyard it is necessary to go through a hinged door (100 cm wide). In the exhibition rooms there are some seats (seat height: 47 cm). Please note that several rooms have soft lighting.
Lift
The lift is used to access the first floor, where temporary exhibitions are set up. It is located at the end of the exhibition itinerary and has the following characteristics:
- door width: 75 cm, cabin interior space: 94x126 cm
- Lift level buttons panel with embossed Braille printing
- visual signal of arrival at the floor.
Toilet facilities
The toilet facilities equipped for people with disabilities are located at the end of the exhibition itinerary and can be reached from the Sala dei Bozzetti by overcoming two inclined ramps (slope of 7%) and have the following characteristics:
- toilet door (79 cm wide)
- suspended toilet (clear floor area: in front 127 cm, on the right side 23 cm, on the left side 110 cm, horizontal handle on the left side and handrail along the perimeter)
- high contrast symbols indicating toilet facilities, positioned at eye level, using medium to large size letters.
Safety exits
Emergency routes are well indicated. The building has an acoustic and visual alarm device.
Church of San Gottardo in Corte
The Church of San Gottardo in Corte is included in the museum tour itinerary. The internal passage from the museum to the church includes (starting from the church courtyard): a step (23 cm), a hinged door (100 cm wide) followed by 9 steps (16 cm) with handrail on the left side.
After a short flat path, 2 steps (16 cm) and a double leaf door (90 cm wide each) lead to the church.
People with physical disabilities can access the church from the entrance in via Pecorari. To reach via Pecorari, it is necessary to exit from Palazzo Reale, continue along via Carlo Maria Martini at the intersection on the right continue along via Palazzo Reale until the intersection with via Pecorari.
The entrance located in via Pecorari has a hinged door (110 cm) always open during visiting hours, followed by a double leaf door (102 cm wide each).
Inside, the church consists of a single nave accessible without obstacles. At the back of the church on the counter-façade wall, overcoming 2 steps (18 cm), you can admire a fourteenth-century fresco of the Crucifixion, by the Giotto school.

Free entrance for people with disabilities and their companions.
The museum proposes two itineraries for people affected by cognitive disability whose aim is the active involvement of participants and to stimulate their interest in works of art through sensory exploration and the use of different learning tools.
Entrance
The museum has two entrances. If you choose the entrance in Via Monterosa, you'll find a large gate, two sets of 9 steps (h. 16 cm) and a hinged door (127 cm wide). The steps can be avoided by using the stair lift (ask for the key at the ticket office). The entrance in Via Mosè Bianchi, for those parking inside PIME, has 10 consecutive steps (h. 14 cm) that can be avoided thanks to a stairlift and a hinged door (127 cm wide).
Reception
In the entrance hall you can find:
- the infopoint (counter height 74 cm)
- the ticket office (counter height 74 cm)
- a bookshop (counter height 74 cm)

Lift
The lift connecting the ground floor to floor -1 has the following characteristics:

Exhibition layout
The Museum of Peoples and Cultures is an exhibition of works of oriental art and ethnography, founded in 1910 on the initiative of the PIME missionaries. The exhibition itinerary develops on one floor (floor -1) with collections of bronzes, ceramics, clothes, coins, masks from China, Africa and Latin America. At the entrance of the exhibition, a multimedia station (h 70 cm from the ground) with documentaries (without subtitles) in Italian and English is available to visitors to raise visitors' awareness on non-European cultures. In the exhibition rooms, the collections are arranged according to topics, ranging from oriental philosophies to fabrics, rituals and daily life. The African mask room is equipped with a touch monitor with audio-visual documentaries with subtitles. Continuing the itinerary, you will find a room dedicated to China where you can watch audio-visual documentaries using headphones (no subtitles).Then you can admire the "Novus Atlas Sinensis" by the Jesuit Martino Martini: this is the first geographical atlas of China, printed in Amsterdam in 1655, that showed China to Europe. The original is displayed in a double showcase (h 80 cm from the ground). Visitors can view a multimedia explanatory copy of the geographical atlas in touch format (with audio and subtitles).
The exhibition rooms have seats and armchairs (seat height: 46 cm).
At the end of the exhibition itinerary, a room is dedicated to teaching. The room has 50 seats and is furnished with four-legged tables (free space below h 72 cm) and chairs (h 45 cm).
It can be reached by passing in succession: a hinged door (h 122 cm), 2 steps (h 15 cm) that can be overcome by an inclined ramp (slope of 4% - length 6 m) with handrail on the right side (h 102 cm).
Orientation signage
In the building there are directional arrows with high contrast and large lettering (at least 7 cm).
Restrooms
The disabled bathroom facilities are located at the start of the exhibition layout and have the following specifications:
- dressing room with 88 cm wide sliding door
- suspended washbasin (space in front 116 cm)
- bathroom with 90 cm wide sliding door
- suspended washbasin (space in front 223 cm)
- suspended toilet (clear space: in front 130 cm; to the right side: 26 cm and 128 cm to the left side, horizontal handle to the right of the WC, hand shower to the right and handrails along the perimeter)

Emergency routes are well indicated. An acoustic alarm is installed.

Exhibition itinerary
The museum is on two floors linked by a flight of stairs of 21 steps (h 17cm, handrail on the left). A stairlift for wheelchairs is available. The museum hosts important collections of Buddhist and African art and a teaching section dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci. Each room deals with a specific topic. On the ground floor there is a laboratory and 2 rooms dedicated to temporary exhibitions (door 90 cm) with parquet floor.
On floor -1, there is a room with tapestries and rare antique rugs and 13 halls contain exhibits of antique objects and artefacts, with educational tours that allow visitors to recognize the authenticity of the works thanks to microscopes, magnifying glasses (h 80 cm) and lighting. To reach the last exhibition rooms, which house the Asian and Buddhist collections, there are two flights of 2 steps (17 cm).

“The Last Supper” was painted by Leonardo da Vinci in the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie, between 1495 and 1498.
The exhibition itinerary develops on the same floor and the visit takes place along a circular path. Inside the room that hosts “The Last Supper” there are 6 benches. There is even a prospective tactile relief (minimum height 70 cm and maximum height 120 cm) that allows blind people to enjoy of the masterpiece.

The building has directional arrows written in large letters (at least 7 cm) and well contrasted.

Restrooms are sited at the end of the exhibition itinerary. The toilets equipped for people with disability has these features:
