Entrance
A double-leaf door (120 cm wide each) leads to the inside of the building and to the main courtyard. The “Museo del Costume, moda e imagine” is on the first floor of Palazzo Morando.
The entrance to the museum has a step (2 cm), a ramp (65 cm long, slope of 8%), double-leaf door (90 cm wide each) and two flights of stairs (15 and 13 stairs, 13 cm high each; handrail on the left). The first floor can be reached by lift.
Reception
On the ground floor, a step (14 cm) and hinged door (86 cm wide) lead into the hall where you find:
- the ticket office (counter height: 91 cm)
- the bookshop (counter height: 91 cm).
The museum staff can provide information and assistance.
Lift
The lift, connecting all floors of the building, can be reached from the main courtyard by overcoming a step (2 cm), a ramp (65 cm long, slope of 8%) and a double-leaf door (90 cm wide each).
It has the following characteristics:
- automatic door (90 cm wide, cabin: inner space 138x150 cm)
- Lift push buttons panel with embossed Braille printing at a maximum height of 121 cm
- acoustic and visual signal on arrival at the floor.
Exhibition itinerary
The museum, on the first floor of an 18th century noble residence, is dedicated to the city of Milan and to a collection of costumes and fashion accessories.
The exhibition develops in 21 rooms and is formed by two separate sections: the Pinacoteca, in the rooms facing the inner courtyard of the building (the main courtyard), and the 18th century rooms of the Morando Attendolo Bolognini apartment, facing Via Sant'Andrea. All the routes within the rooms are free of obstacles.
Toilet facilities
The toilet equipped for people with disabilities is on the ground floor in the main courtyard and can be reached overcoming a step (10 cm), a manual hinged door (84 cm wide) and has the following characteristics:
- toilet with hinged door (98 cm wide)
- wall-mounted washbasin (clear floor area: in front 124 cm)
- floor standing toilet (clear floor area: in front 126 cm; to the right side: 26 cm; to the left side: 128 cm)
- handrail around the perimeter of the toilet
- high contrast symbols indicating toilet facilities, positioned at eye level, using medium to large size letters.

The emergency exists are well indicated. A visual and acoustic alarm is installed.

Entrance
It is possible to enter in the museum's courtyard overcoming a wide gate and after a few meters it is possible to reach the building entrance, that has a wide rotating door with swing doors (120 cm).
Reception
In the entrance hall there is the ticket office-bookshop (counter height 84 cm).
Lift
The building is on three floors, all linked by a lift.
Main features:

- Braille control panel at a maximum height of 114 cm,

Exhibition itinerary
The Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea (PAC) is an exhibition space exclusively dedicated to contemporary art, where national and international artistic initiatives are promoted. The PAC develops on three floors and it has a large and sparkling glass window looking on the gorgeous garden of Villa Reale.
It has been restored in 1996 and it is totally accessible by people with disabilities. The mezzanine floor has 5 exhibition rooms, wide and free of obstacles. It is possible to reach the hall of the parterre overcoming 5 steps or, alternatively, an inclined ramp (slope 7%, handrail on the left).
On the first floor there are two exhibition rooms.
Restrooms
On the ground floor there is a restroom reserved for persons with disabilities: it is spacious and equipped with grab bars.

Entrance
A broad gate (more than 5 metres) leads from Via Fiori Oscuri 4 to the inner courtyard with loose gravel surface. 100 metres further on, a second gate (260 cm wide) leads to the start of the exhibition layout. Alternatively, the Via Fratelli Gabba 10 entrance has a gate (113 cm wide), an inclined ramp (6 m long, 117 cm wide, 6% gradient) and a soil (3 cm).
Exhibition layout
The historic garden inside Palazzo Brera consists of three sectors: two elliptic beds containing plants, flowers and medicinal herbs and an arboretum with centuries old trees. Each species has an identity tag containing the scientific name, family and place of origin (in Italian and English, at varying heights from 50 cm to 80 cm). All the pathways are more than 140 cm wide with a compact gravel surface. Access to the teaching room is by a soil (3 cm) and two adjacent double paneled doors (each panel is 113 cm wide). The room is furnished with rectangular tables with four legs (67 cm space below) and 10 chairs (h 41 cm). There are chairs along the perimeter of the botanic garden (at varying heights from 41 cm to 50 cm).
Direction signs
The internal direction signs can be read by the visually impaired (characters over 7 cm in size contrasting with the background colour). A vertical panel (90 cm from ground level) with tactile map in relief shows the layout of the botanic garden. The innovative technology used means that the visually impaired are able to follow the route within the garden unassisted. A special aerial pole detects the signals from the microchips installed under the ground and sends them to the earpiece of a mobile phone, to supply information on the botanical heritage of the garden in Italian, English and French.
Bathroom facilities
The disabled bathroom is situated to the right of the teaching room, and has the following specifications:
- bathroom with 88 cm wide hinged door
- suspended wash basis (space in front 140 cm)
- floor mounted WC (space in front 149 cm, 116 cm to the right and 22 cm to the left, horizontal handle on the right and handrail on the left)
- simple toilet symbols at least 7 cm high, in relief, in contrast with the door color, situated at eye height.

Ticket is free for people with disability and their companion.Free download on smartphones and tablets of the App containing various itineraries in the Museum. An audio guide, in 7 languages, can be downloaded and it has an itinerary for children. The Museum has a free wi-fi for all visitors.
During the “Museo senza limiti” initiative, 3 Mondays each month (from February to December) guided tours are organized in collaboration with the Don Carlo Gnocchi Foundation of Milan and with UICI, ENS. These guided tours are leaded by specialized staff for elderly people, people affected by motor/ cognitive disabilities and the hearing impaired.

Entrance
The Museum is next to the La Scala Theatre. The main entrance has one step (height: 16 cm) and a double leaf door (width: 120 cm). The exhibition hall, on the first and on the second floor, can be reached overcoming thirty-four consecutive steps (step height: 14 cm, handrail on the right).
People with motor disability can use a dedicated entrance (which is generally closed to the public) by overcoming an inclined ramp (slope 5%) and a double leaf door (width: 116 cm). To use it, please contact the box office.
Reception
The box office (counter height: 105 cm) is on the ground floor and the bookshop is on the first floor (counter height: 100 cm).
Lift
The lift connecting the 2 floors of the museum is closed to the public and to use it you need to be accompanied by a member of the museum staff. It has the following characteristics:
- door width: 85 cm, cabin: 148x140 cm,
- Lift push buttons panel with embossed Braille printing at a maximum height of 129 cm,
- acoustic signal for arrival at the floor.
Exhibition itinerary
The exhibition itinerary develops on the first and second floor. On the first floor there are seven exhibition halls: in the first one there are ancient music instruments while in the others there are works of well-known people who contributed to make the theatre famous. The halls are completely accessible.
On the first floor it is also possible to access the boxes of the balcony in the third line of the Theatre by passing through a passage (80 cm wide).
Between the first and the second floor there are 22 steps (step height: 16 cm, handrails on both sides – people with disabilities can take the lift).
The second floor generally has temporary exhibitions and is formed by 5 exhibition halls (parquet floor) with ancient documents and books.
In spring and summer, from the second floor it is possible to access a small terrace from which you can admire the flytower and the elliptical tower of the theatre's dressing rooms.
The halls of the museum have touchscreen interactive terminals in Italian and English (screen placed at a maximum height of 114 cm.) linked to the museum's app
Restrooms
The accessible restroom has an automatic light, is on the first floor and has the following characteristics:
- dressing door width: 100 cm
- bathroom door width: 100 cm
- Floor standing toilet (clear floor area: in front: 109 cm, on the right side 30 cm, on the left side 100 cm).

Exhibition layout
Opened in 1974, the Municipal Francesco Messina Studio Museum is housed in the deconsecrated old church of San Sisto. The Sicilian artist, who adopted Milan as his home, wanted to have some of his works kept in Milan.
The museum, which displays around eighty sculptures (in plaster, multicoloured terracotta, bronze and wax) and thirty graphic works (lithographs, pastels, watercolours and pencil drawings), has three exhibition floors (-1, 0 and 1), connected to each other by 3 consecutive sets of 7 steps (h 13 cm). The artist's studio is on the first floor.
Bathroom facilities
The bathroom, situated at the back of the ground floor hall, is reached by 3 non-consecutive steps (h 13 cm) and a 63 cm wide opening, and has the following specifications:
- 73 cm wide hinged door
