Entrance
The museum entrance is located in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele (in the immediate vicinity of Piazza della Scala) where a museum operator welcomes visitors. From the entrance, a lift leads to the permanent exhibition.

Exhibition itinerary
The exhibition itinerary develops on a single floor where it is possible to admire Leonardo's works and machines reconstructed in full size: the mechanical eagle, the fast crossbow, the time machine, the flying screw with the spring motor, the submarine. One room is entirely dedicated to the Last Supper, with the reconstruction of the painting yard in immersive virtual reality.
The itinerary develops in 7 rooms accessible without obstacles. Each single object is equipped with an interactive multimedia station. Multimedia stations are 87 cm from the ground.
Restrooms
The accessible toilet equipped for people with disabilities has the following characteristics:
- toilet with hinged door (90 cm wide)
- wall-mounted washbasin (clear space in front: 134 cm)
- floor-standing toilet (clear space: in front 100 cm; on the right side 12 cm; on the left side 43 cm; grab bars on the left side and handrail along the perimeter of the toilet)

Entrance
The entrance is through a broad gateway from the street (390 cm wide). A horizontal barrier is situated 4 metres after the gate, to the right of which is the pedestrian passageway (143 cm wide). To reach the exhibition buildings, you can walk along the left side of the courtyard, paved in firm asphalt and with 11 benches (seat height: 43 cm). In succession, you meet: the Palazzina Liberty, the “Sala delle Colonne”, the Cattedrale, Messina 2 and the Porcellino or Ex cisterne.
Exhibition itinerary
The large structure made up of several buildings was a former railway materials factory and later the site of industrial activities. Today it is a cultural centre that welcomes events, workshops and concerts in its multipurpose spaces.
The spaces inside the buildings are of various sizes but all accessible.
The Palazzina Liberty, located on the left side after the pedestrian passageway, has an entrance with 4 steps (16 cm high each) followed by a single-leaf door (110 cm); the steps can be overcome with a stairlift.
On the ground floor of the building there are 2 rooms used for meetings, exhibitions and events.
After the Palazzina Liberty, always on the left side of the courtyard, you find the Sala delle Colonne, wide and accessible with a double leaf door (130 cm wide each).
Continuing for about 40 meters along the courtyard, you reach the Cattedrale building, in front of the cafeteria, a wide and accessible building with large glass windows; it has a double leaf door (130 cm wide each).
After the cafeteria, located about 10 meters on the left, you find the Messina 2 building. The entrance has a double leaf door (93 cm wide each). The building is on two floors connected by two flights of stairs of 15 steps each (18 cm high each) or alternatively by a lift.
The "Porcellino" or "Ex cisterne" building is located in the courtyard, about 30 meters from the Messina 2 building. The entrance has 6 steps (16 cm high each, handrail on the left side at a height of 100 cm) which can be overcome by means of a double ramp (length 16 m, width 150 cm, slope of 7%).
A double-leaf door (156 cm wide each) leads into the building, arranged on two floors connected by two flights of stairs of 15 steps each (18 cm high each) or alternatively by an elevator.
The building is made up of six rooms with double-leaf doors (75 cm wide each), on the ground floor and a large open space on the first floor.
Lifts
The Cattedrale building is equipped with an elevator that connects all floors and has the following characteristics:
- automatic door width 80 cm, cabin 130x95 cm
- lift push buttons panel with embossed Braille printing at a maximum height of 105 cm
- acoustic and visual signal of arrival on each floor.
The Porcellino and Messina 2 buildings are equipped with lifts that connect all floors and have the following characteristics:
- automatic door width 80 cm, cabin 110x140 cm
- lift push buttons panel with embossed Braille printing at a maximum height of 118 cm
- acoustic and visual signal of arrival on each floor.
Toilet facilities
In the Fabbrica del Vapore there are 20 accessible toilet facilities. Each building has accessible toilets.
There are two types of toilet facilities: the first type have the following characteristics:
- dressing room with 90 cm wide hinged door
- toilet with 87 cm wide sliding door
- suspended washbasin (clear space in front 137 cm)
- floor-standing toilet (clear floor area: in front 160 cm; on the right side: 24 cm; on the left side: 115 cm, horizontal grab handle to the left).
The second type of accessible toilet facilities have the following characteristics:
- dressing room with 90 cm wide hinged door
- toilet with 90 cm wide hinged door
- suspended washbasin (clear space in front 128 cm)
- floor-standing toilet (clear floor area: in front 150 cm; on the right side: 115 cm; on the left side: 29 cm, horizontal grab handle on the right and handrail on the left. WC shower to the left at a height of 55 cm).
Cafeteria
The Cafeteria is situated at the entrance to the first building. It has a double hinged door (95 cm wide each). The spacious hall is furnished with square tables with a single central leg and has a déhor furnished with tables, benches, chairs and deck chairs.
Emergency exits
Emergency routes are well indicated. There is a visual and acoustic alarm system.

A guide in Braille is available to visitors to carry out the itinerary independently. In the various exhibition rooms, relief panels reproduce the most important masterpieces of the permanent sections of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Entrance
The main entrance has three steps, a double-leaf door (98 cm), then a flight of eight stairs with banisters on both sides and a second double-leaf door (98 cm).
The entrance in Via Manzoni, on the corner with Piazza della Scala, is accessible to people with disabilities. There is an intercom (height: 100 cm), a threshold (2,5 cm) and a double-leaf door (74 cm wide each).
From the entrance hall you can reach the cafeteria by a flight of eight stairs with banisters on both sides. There is a wheelchair lift (platform 98x145 cm). There is also a reading area with seven armchairs (seat height: 38 cm). An accessible route of about 20 meters takes you to the ticket office.
Reception
In the hall there are:

- the bookshop (counter height 105 cm) that can be reached after a 20 m flat and accessible route

Exhibition itinerary
The exhibition itinerary develops in three connected buildings.
The twentieth-century works are displayed in the sixteen rooms on the ground floor in the historical headquarters of the Banca Commerciale Italiana. The section dedicated to the nineteenth century is housed in the nine rooms of Palazzo Brentani (ground floor) and in the fourteen rooms of Palazzo Anguissola (ground floor and first floor). The first floor of Palazzo Anguissola can be reached by a staircase with a banister on the left. Visitors with mobility impairment can use a second lift, which must be operated by the museum staff. All the rooms on the ground floor are easily accessible and have seats (seat height 43 cm).To access room XV you must overcome 6 consecutive steps (17 cm, banister on both sides) and then 6 consecutive steps (17 cm, banister on both sides) to access room XXIII. Alternatively, you can use a wheelchair lift (width: 98 cm, depth: 145 cm).
Orientation signage
Each room has information panels at various heights and tactile maps in the ticket office area.
Restrooms
There is a restroom dedicated to people with disability in the basement and it has these features:
- hinged door (96 cm)

The Gallery is sited in a pedestrian area. It is possible to go to the courtyard, paved with cobblestone and flagstone, overcoming a large door and two large openings.
Exhibition itinerary
The gallery is located in a former industrial building, typical of the Milanese architecture. It is an exhibition space dedicated to visual art, photography, architecture and design.
From the courtyard, overcoming a step (10 cm) and two ramps (25 steps, height 16 cm), it is possible to enter the mezzanine where is sited the exhibition space Gallery show (opening 92 cm). The bookshop is on the first floor (7 steps, height 16 cm, handrail on the left).
The gallery can be reached going through a walk with glass doors open on the inside courtyard. The exhibition space is wide and without obstacles. Thanks to a spiral staircase in the hall it is possible to reach the terrace.

Exhibition itinerary
Art collections of the Galleria d'Arte Moderna are on the first and second floor of Villa Reale. Temporary exhibitions are displayed in the rooms on the ground floor. The Scalone d'Onore (the monumental staircase) links the ground floor to the first floor where there are thirty exhibition rooms with paintings and sculptures from the Romantic Movement and the Neoclassical period. Some exhibition rooms have seats (seat height: 49 cm. and 41 cm). All the rooms on the first floor have marble or parquet floors and there are no obstacles to mobility.
On the second floor there are 12 exhibition rooms with the Grassi and Vismara collections. All rooms are easily accessible and have seats (seat height: 50 cm).

The accessible restroom is on the ground floor and has the following characteristics:
